YeeHaw, Working Speedometer

Yippee, I now have a working speedometer in my '96 Accord EX. I bought this car to use as a run a round to help keep the miles off my truck. The speedometer didn't work when I bought it. Well, my son called me today, he had found me a "guage cluster" for it, so I went up and picked that and an air conditioner compressor up. Came home and started to tear the car apart. Almost litterally !!! OH, yeah, the air conditioner litterally "went up in smoke" about 3 weeks ago

First step, was disconnect the battery, second step was disconnet the AIRBAGS

I had to remove: the lower dash panel on the drivers side, the armrest, the shifter knob, the center console, the stereo and CD players, the glove box, and finally the guage cluster. I also had to disconnect power supply to things like 4 way flashers, sunroof, heater, air conditioner, air vents and other things, etc.

Got is all back together at about 9:50pm, took it for a ride, and my first impressions were that it was not working , but the minute I was able to speed up a little bit more, YEEHAW I have a working speedometer. I am so happy with myself, Never tackled something quite like this before.

Don't mean to bore you with my projects, but I am just to excited

Kitty

I must say, there is not much you do not take on! Tearing into that gage cluster can be "An Ordeal".

I think you are, are No 1, "Mod - Her - Rater"

Have a good weekend. "The Camper" is getting hitch to head north east at sunrise.

John

Woah...I am impressed. My DH did that project on our 1994 Honda Accord EX about 2 years ago. He said it was a.....well difficult endevor Ours now has 175,000 miles on it. We'd like it to last until we decide to go fulltime, so we don't have to buy something else. So far so good. Hard to kill those Hondas. We sold our 1981 Accord last year.
