Woodall's 2011 Directory - a mess!

My pre-ordered Woodall's North American directory arrived today, and I am P.O.'d, to say the least.

The state sections are not in exact alphabetical order.

There is no CD-ROM with the directory. Didn't they used to include one?

In the alphabetical index, a number of states are just missing. The page numbering is OK, so it's not a binding problem. But the index jumps from Kansas to Montana. What happened to Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi?

The cover blurb claims that GPS coordinates of campgrounds are included. I flipped quite a few pages and did not see any.

This book is going back to Amazon, pronto.

I may be wrong, but I thought the CD was extra, you could get either the book or the CD if you wanted.

Woodall's has a Facebook page, and I also posted there. I got two surprisingly quick responses from them.

One: The book is now divided into East and West sections, split about in the middle, each with a separate index. This apparently allows them to create the less expensive Eastern and Western guides from the same set of pages. It's a little weird, but they have held the line on price for quite a while, in spite of increases in materials, labor and shipping cost. So I will cope.

Two: The CD was a freebie included for a few years, but they told me they have discontinued it, and are plowing the cost savings into developing a free iPhone app to access the directory. Unfortunately, the only way I will be able to access it on my Blackberry will be through the web browser, which is not all that impressive.

About the GPS coordinates, I need to look farther. In any case, it looks like I will keep the book, and just continue to use my Trailer Life 2008 disk for route planning. In conjunction with the TomTom, of course.
