Why Sunline?

I am totally new here. I am currently shopping for a small TT, and had been looking at fiberglass models, like Casita, Scamp, etc.

I ran across an ad for a 1982 17.5 ft Sunline, and was not familiar with the trailer. Next, I found your club here. I have been reading for a bit, but I don't really see a section or post that describes the advantages of a Sunline vs. other trailers.

Can someone help?

Clearly you all love your trailers, but there must be compelling reasons why...

Thanks, in advance!

We love/loved them because of the quality build, the reputation customer service had at Sunline and the various floor layouts they had.

At least that is my theory!

Why Sunline? The fact that you found a 33 year old trailer presumably in decent shape says something about the quality that was put into them.
Welcome to the forum.

Thank you for your replies. Does anyone have opinions about the frame? How about the superstructure? Any plumbing issues, leaks, hardware, towing gear? Are these trailers different than others of the age?

Forgot to mention it above - welcome to the Forum!

A trailer no matter what manufacturer and age will serve you well IF IT HAS BEEN SERVICED WELL!

Who ever got our 2007 T2499 - got a gem! Everything was maintained, cleaned, painted when needed, right down to the problem the 2499's had with the A frame.....
when it was repaired it was really repaired with heavy plating and welded by a certified welder.....

Now there have been people on here who thought they were getting a "gem" only to find out it was a fossil......

If you like the unit - inspect - inspect and then inspect some more! If you are in doubt bring someone with you who knows a thing or two about trailers......

One thing you need to remember is water leaks are like cancer - once an intrusion happens and it is left untreated......you will need some major repair work. No matter who manufactured it!

Good luck in your search!

Hi and welcome. It's not that sunlines were made out of magic materials or anything, it's more that the quality of workmanship that went into them was amazing. Especially the cabinetry. Like Poppy said, they are still susceptible to all the issues that every other camper is. The little fiberglass ones like the scamp may actually have a small advantage over them as far as fighting the elements while aging in that the roof is not rubber on those.
