Where to camp??

Hi All, We are new to this forum and fairly new to tt camping. We bought our first tt (1950) spring of last year and we are sooo glad we chose a Sunline! We have heard plenty of horror stories at campgrounds and on other forums from those who don't have quality built trailers. We live in New Jersey and have limited choices for weekend camping trips. Only one of us is retired so we can only do weekends for now. We do prefer full hookups which eliminates NJ state parks. We would like to only spend a max of 2-3 hours traveling so we can enjoy as much camping as possible during our weekend. Anyone have any suggestions for campgrounds within 2-3 hrs drive from NYC area? We certainly would appreciate your help and we may even see you there!

I'd check out some of the campground reviews sites. I like Campground Report at http://www.CampgroundReport.com They are fairly new (I think 6 months or so) but have lots of reviews and some with pictures. Has helped me find lots of local spots I did not know about.

tikibob,
Here is a link to a park in PA that was recommended to me from a family friend. I have never been there but I hear there is some good fishing and that it's a great place. This should be within a couple of hours from you, depending on how far north you are.

Good Luck

hi

I am not sure were in nj you are but I am from pa. and go to the so jersy shore there are several places in the summer ocean view , big timber lake. driftwood, beachcombers. just to list a few and they should all be with in a 2 hour drive. here in pa. in the Poconos there is Otter lake and in the south easter part of Pa there are several Eagles peak, lake in wood , sun valley , Spring gluch. are just a few good luck. Ps try going to Poca web site (pennisylvania campground owner assoc.) they with have every private campground listed and all ammentties and maybe even links to their web sites if the campground has one. and NJ also has the same kind of web site go to beach comber.com and go under campgrounds then pick a region and go to town good luck and happy camping

Hi,
This is an older thread, so you're probaly not checking it anymore, but just wanted to mention southern VT. We camped at a wonderful place a few years ago called Greenwood. It was close to Bennington. They have W/E and a dump station. Large wooded sites, fabulous area, showers, etc. in their "lodge" are immaculate. Family owned and meticulously maintained...really nice people. If you Google "Greenwood Lodge, VT, it should be listed. Loved it so much there, we ended up buying a cabin in a nearby town...just sold it recently. We often visited relatives and friends in CT, NJ, NYC. and the drive using mainly RT 8 (rather than the thruway) was also wonderful.

lori meister is an unknown quantity at this point
where to camp

Campgroundreviews.com have alot of reviews nation wide. We live in Mass. We went to NJ a couple of years ago. stayed at sea pirate campground the beach was a 15-20 minute drive. The campground was clean and our site was huge. Last year we went to Ocean View NJ. Very nice, clean, pool was very nice. It was hot and the pool didn't feel crowded. The e section is private and the sites are huge.
