What Kind of Axles Do I Have

How can I tell who manufactured the axles on my T-1950? It's a 2007 and the dealer cannot tell me with certainly that the axles were manufactured by Dexter. I want to flip the axles for additional clearance.

Diane,

Do you still have the Appliance Identification List that was in your Sunline Owner's Manual. This should be a yellow sheet of paper that has your trailer's equipement listed with the model #, Brand Name, and Serial No. of each hand written on the sheet. The Axles (Front & Rear) are listed on here, should be the 1st two items on the list.

I have a 2005 T-280SR and the Axels are listed as Kober 5000. But there may be different Axels used on T-1950.

We had the manufacturer listed in our Owner's Manual in two places.

1) There should be a sheet listing the item, manufacturer, serial # and who inspected it at Sunline - on my 2007 T2499 it is listed as LCI.

2) The second place would be a brochure under the EXTERIOR COMPONENTS of the manual. Shows that Lippert Components is the manufacturer of our axles.

Check those two places, I'm sure it is in there.

Thanks!

I've looked in the info I have at home and did not see the axle manufacturer listed. The owner's manual is in the trailer that was taken to the dealer today for some warranty work so that will be the next place to look. The trailer should be home in a couple of days.

Marshall found a company about 20 minutes from home that sells all sorts of utility and boat trailers and can do the work. In fact the company is a Dexter dealer. If we strike out on finding the axle manufacturer in the info still on the trailer, this company can look at the axles and know exactly what is needed to raise the trailer.

Thanks again for your help!

Diane

If they are Dexters, they are stamped with the part number/serial number.

Crawl under..... and look along the axle tube, assuming it is leaf springs. Stamped in the axle tube around the mid area are numbers.

If they are Dexters, the Dexter dealer can identify with that number

If you have the rubber ride axles they too may be stamped on the cross tube. The rubber rides I had on cargo trailers did not have a cross tube, but on TT's they do some times use cross tubes.

Hope this helps

PS. I thought the axles numbers where on the yellow serial number sheet in the manual verses crawling under there. Mine are anyways.

I have the rubber-ryde suspension. In the notebook from Sunline, MY yellow spec sheet says that I have Kober axles, but yet I have a Dexter axle manuel. Guess I'll have to attempt to crawl under there and take a look/see for any tags/names. Aah, might even be a photo op under there.

Our 2007 T-1950 has LCI axles (Lippert Component Industies).

LCI suspension components used on the 2007 T-1950, such as the spring hangers and stabilizer jacks are made in China. The stabilizer jacks seem to be very flimsy. LCI spring bushings can apparently get very noisy after less than 10,000 miles.

Interestingly, LCI and its parent, Drew Industries don't mention on their webpages that some of their components are imported.

I have the same situation with my 2006 Sunline T-2499. Also has the Soft-Ride suspension. Spec sheet with Serial Numbers records the axles as Kober yet the included manual is for Dexter. Since they recorded the numbers from the actual unit, it's likely the spec sheet is correct and the Dexter manual is just included with all units. I sent a request to Kober for the correct manual.

Hematite,

Check these links out to download Kober manuals.

AL-KO Kober Axels & Brakes:
May be faster than waiting for them to send you a manual.

Hi Hutch,

I saw the online site and rather than download them I sent for a printed copy, Coincidentally, the owners manual arrived today! Only sent for it a few days ago! It has part numbers as well as maintenance info. Very fast service!
Thanks,
Rick

Hey Rick,

Thanks for the info, guess I'll have to research so I can send for the correct axle manual.

Kitty,

The manual that Hutch posted a link for is the same manual that you will get from AlKo. It's a general manual that covers our axle. I told them I needed a manual for the 3500 lb. rubber torsion axle and that's what I got. Finally, I have the correct part numbers and maintenance instructions!
