What is your favorite campground?

Do you have a favorite campground? or 2 or 3 of them?

There are so many good campgrounds out there and so little time... Every campground we have visited recommended by a fellow Sunline Owners Club member has been perfect!

This is a thread to help show off and spread the word of your favorite campground. Let us know what your top 1, 2 or 3 of them are. Any pics available are icing on the cake!

Looking forward to hearing about your favorite spot.

Thanks

John

Hi John Happy Easter,
Our favourite campground is Henderson Beach State Park in Destin FL. We have been there 6 times since we found it on the internet in 2009. We were supposed to go this May but due to situation on your side of the border we don't travel that way right now. Sad really but that's life. Maybe next year?
Have a great day and safe travels.

Hi Ted,

Thanks for the tip! Wow, this looks nice. Have to remember this one.

The park web site https://www.floridastateparks.org/park/Henderson-Beach

A sky view https://binged.it/2nKCiMY

Do you have a favorite campsite to recommend?

Sorry you can't make it this year. Hopefully the situation will get back to working again sooner rather then later.

If you ever get back down this way, give us a holler, glad to meet up with again sometime.

Thanks

John

I was just thinking about another of our favourite campgrounds. Ottawa Metro Park at Exit 127 on I75. It is only 20 dollars for seniors and it is a lovely spot. When we leave for our trips into the US from Canada we can not bring certain foods across the Border, such as green peppers which are grown here but we can go to grocery stores in the US and buy the same ones. After crossing the Border and then stopping to buy what we can not bring across as well as fueling up it takes abut 5 hours to get to that park so it is a great first stop. Nice paved sites with Water and Electric. Very nice washrooms. If you want there is hiking and swimming just lots to do. We just sleep a night then head toward I65 and Cross Roads Campground in Elizabethtown KY.
Happy travels everyone.

Great idea for a topic John! I'm going to do this by state.

PA - Ives Run COE Campground. Gorgeous campground on a lake, with lots to do in the surrounding area - Pine Creek Rail Trail, Kayaking, cute town of Wellsboro.

VA - 2 favorites here...
Grayson Highlands State Park. This one is for nature lovers. The hiking is amazing, and the Virginia Creeper bike trail is nearby. (best bike trail we've ever ridden)

Shenandoah River State Park. Beautiful mountain and River views. Lots of hiking, mountain biking, and kayaking.

SC - James Island County Park. Beautiful campground right by Charleston which has so much to see.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for posting one of your favorite campsites.

Tweety,

Super idea on doing this per state!! It is hard to narrower this down and by doing by state that opens up more favorite campgrounds.

If anyone wants to add more by state, go for it!!

Thanks

John

Following Tweety's leed, I'll add some of our favorites by state. Too hard to narrow down to just 1 or 2 campsites...

We are mainly state park type of campers. We like the wooded area campsites and the attractions of the state parks. These are some of our favorites.

Ohio:
Delaware State Park, - More quiet campground local to us.
Indian Lake State Park - Larger park, not as woodsies, camper beach on the lake
Lake Loramie State Park - Smaller campground with large lake & camper beach.
Cowan Lake State Park - 10hp limited large lake with camper beach.
Hocking Hills State Park - Lots of natural beauty and hiking in the area

PA:
Black Moshannon State Park - Small park up in the mountains. Natural marsh area with board walk. Fall colors are beautiful.
Promised Land State Park - Big campground, but spread out. Very large lake with beach and plenty of woods. Easy access off I 84.

NY
Moffitt Beach State Park - On the water sites, nice small town near by. No power at sites, part of the Adirondacks Park system.
Rollins pond - On the water sites, a more quiet campground. No power at sites, part of the Adirondacks Park system.
Nicks Lake - Nice small town near by. Lake and beach, no power at sites, part of the Adirondacks Park system.

A few pics

Indian Lake (before the Ash Borer)

Hocking Hills - Old Man's Cave

Delaware State Park

Rollins Pond

Moffit Beach

MD - Capitol KOA. OK, It's a typical KOA, but I recommend it if you want a central location equidistant between Baltimore, DC, and Annapolis. Location not far from I97 and MD32, you can hit I97N to Baltimore, I97S to Annapolis, and several Routes to DC (they have tours from the campground) We don't live that far from it, and it's our go to for check out the rig trips.

Thanks Mack. Good to know. One of these days we are going to visit the Capitol area and need a place to camp.

Hi mcj7247, Welcome!! Thanks for posting your CG's.

H'mm, the Woodland Valley SP is not that far from where we use to live. We where right across the Hudson river just over the Rip Van Winkle Bridge by Catskill on the Hudson side of the bridge . I see this park is part of the Catskill Mountains park system and I have been looking for good CG's there. Now I found another one. YEH!!! We are going to North/South Lake this summer for the first time not to far from Woodland Valley. Have to drive down and check it out for next year.

Thanks

John

I spotted my very first 1998-99 Sunline Saturn (with the space/planet themed logo) in the check-in part of the parking lot here on July 24th or 25th, 1999!
