What happened to Sunline?

I found my 2007 Que on the Web at a dealer not far from my home. When I went to look at it and finally purcahse it I found out that Sunline had gone out of business. With a long history and good product line I was wondering what happened. My unit was sold as is with no warranty beacuse of this fact. Does anyone have any insight?

Hi Ed,

Here are some earlier threads that you can read that may provide insight to Sunline's dimise.

Sunline Auction

Sunline Plant Opening???

Sunline Closed Plant / Out of Business

Sunline Close

Here's a link to an RV Trade Digest article.

Here's an RV.net post on Sunline Closing.

One other note, your dealer should not have said it's sold as is, because if you bought your Que as a new 2007 unit, it's components are covered by the OEM warrantees.
So make sure you send in all your warranty cards for the appliances, etc.

Happy (or sad as it may be ) reading.

Sad reading for sure. I have been looking for the brand that some day I may have to replace ours for a little bigger one. It's a problem once we have been spoiled with the great camper we have at the cost value they where. After looking at others and then coming back and looking at ours, Nope that brand won't do either. Boy we just can't part with this one yet.

I'm even now looking at used SR model Sunlines as the quality is there. For some reason a large number of T299SR's are out there but not any T310SR's.

So far in my brand search the one that comes close with a close floor plan/quality is Artic Fox and then Nash. The Big Foots do not have the floor plans yet and I can't seem to find Komfort much here on the east coast.

This is really diss-heartening.

Ed, welcome to the club. You are now the proud owner of a top quality collectors item like the rest of us. More enjoyable to read up on the good posts here on Sunline Club then the break up of Sunline.

Happy camping in your new camper.

John

Ed,
I would hope the dealer informed you BEFORE you made the purchase. Just as a note, I bought my T1950 in April this year and the dealer honored the 3 year warranty in writing without me even asking for it. Of course there are individual manufacturers warranty's offered by the appliances, flooring, roofing, etc.

I have posted our story on here before, but to recap, Jan and I had a '98 2475 that we co-owned with our daughter and her family. We wanted a bit more room and were looking very seriously at the 276 SR. We had gone to Robert's RV in Kansas in Sept. of '06 to see one, loved the layout but were hesitant because we didn't care for the interior decor and I wanted the front stone guard. We had gone to Pa. and toured the factory earlier that year and were impressed. Later, in Feb or March of '07 I was trying to email the factory to get some info and then found that they had closed the doors way back in November.

We were very unsure as to what to do. We loved the 276 SR and started internet shopping. We found one, very well optioned, at Fireside RV sales in Palmyra, Pa. Our '98 was so good we weren't worried about the warranty since all the appliances were covered.

Anyway, to make this long story shorter, over the phone and via email we reached a deal with Fireside, drove to Pa. last April, and towed our new Sunline home to Missouri. We absolutely love it and regret no part of the decision. Our kids now own the '98 Sunline. We will be camping with them the weekend of Oct 12 at Mark Twain Lake.
