Guess it's a camper project. Took the 30 amp 120 volt twist lock out of my 6KW Honda generator and replaced it with an RV 30 amp. Some assembly required the RV outlet is bigger around but the same size mounting, gave me some thing to do while I watched it rain now I can plug the camper in directly to the generator.

Honestly, I'm surprised the bearings and other running gear held up to the heat. Granted he didn't run it real long that way, but still.

I'm not surprised the bearings held up. I worked in a bearing factory and the quality control that goes into them is unbelievable. You set the preload correctly and maintain bearings will last a long time.
As a matter of fact, we made the wheel bearings for the space shuttle. Imagine the stress of going from freezing to high heat, going from 0 RPMs to I don't know how many RPMs in a split second on touch down.
Race cars run wheel bearings in excess of 200 MPH.
What suprised me was no WD hitch or sway control.

Last week, I....
Replaced the propane regulator and pigtail. Mounted the regulator directly to the main pipe where it came through the frame.
Replaced the panelling they used for the bed underlayment (?). Used a little sturdier stuff I got for nothing from a scrap pile. Made sure the supports were all good, and added a couple more where they were lacking. Shouldn't feel as "iffy" now.
Built some steps for our Sunny. The original metal ones were gone when we bought it. Don't know if they left them out and got a bit too close to [whatever] or what. Used some 3-step stringers and 1 x 12's from Home Depot. Used some furring strips that I had to make the legs in the back, two pieces for each - at right angles. Everything was screwed-and-glued. Yeah it's a little bulkier than I would have liked, but I think it'll work out ok. It's much sturdier than the little plastic step we were using. <G>
We'll find out how all these improvements work out tomorrow. Going to do Thanksgiving in the Canyon.

How about some pics of the steps Dale? Mine are junk, and for right now we use a plastic fold-out step stool.
Maybe tomorrow I can get some pics up of my next project - rebuild of the rear window framing. Man o man, talk about rot! I don't think the window frame was sealed adequately on the top. I've got where the window attaches to the trailer clean, but still need to clean the attaching surface on the window itself, then rebuild the interior wood frame.

Here we go! A quickie cell phone pic of the steps I made for our Sunny. I had to cut off about 1 1/2" of the stringer at the top for the top step. Wanted to make sure I had plenty of clearance to open the door and to allow plenty of leeway for varying ground conditions. I may have to shim a bit here and there to be sure it sits solid - depends on the sites. Now I just need a little paint....

Well had fun with the last camping trip for the year. Everything has been washed, waxed , and sealed up for winter. I can't wait for summer to get here already!!!

We stayed at Thousand Trails over by Port Huron. The campground is now open to the public, so we tried it out. They have a very nice campground with a lot of activities. We plan to go back next year.
