That's a good quick fix but you know how they get gummy and fragile after a while. I think you already gave me the clue. Pics will follow upon completion.

Today I picked up the tail lights. They have the sharp not rounded corners just like the original ones.

Made Deck out of Toy Hauler door

Just picked up our unit from our welder who:

  • Installed REAL bumper bolted and welded to frame
  • Mounted spare on said bumper
  • Installed insert for bike rake
  • Installed flag pole holder
  • Made adjustable aluminum feet to support Toy Hauler door for re-purposing as a doggie deck

Looks good!

I couldn't help but notice, is that a General RV sticker on the back?

I'm not sure if Preston got to respond...but yes, it was sold by General RV. We bought it from the original owners and had to go from Lancaster Pennsylvania to Michigan to pick it up. It is now back in it's birthplace in Lancaster County. Seriously - we live just a few miles from the former plant.

Checking for recalls

I called Dometic to determine if the fridge in our newly-acquired 2006 TS-2675 had the recall kit applied. They did not have it on record but suggested sending a pic of the maintenance area behind the outside vent to confirm. They emailed back and confirmed that the recall has not been completed. They gave me several local repair shops. I had already called Stoltzfus RV in Adamstown PA - a former Sunline dealer - to determine if they would service it. They said they don't service anything they didn't sell. They gave me contact info for a local mobile RV technician. Dometic gave me several RV service center locations but not this guy. He was very helpful. He has not done one of these in a while so he has to order the recall kit. I'm hoping it comes quickly because we're only a couple of weeks away from being ready to hit the road.

I also checked the fire extinguisher and confirmed that it is not part of a fire extinguisher recall.

Yeah, you'll know it's had the recall performed because there's a big metal shield that's installed over a lot of your outside panel access when you remove the cover. It has a white sticker on it.

Assuming the recall kit can get shipped out quickly, it's a pretty quick job to install. Assuming the kit hasn't changed from when I had a bunch of these go through my hands years ago, they come with detailed instructions to help refresh his memory.

That's very surprising about Stoltzfus, I thought for sure they'd bend over backwards for a Sunline owner. If you need anything else, I'd stop in and talk to Lee in the sales dept. He might be able to straighten things out, and tell him I sent you and that you have a Sunline.

Good to know about the fire extinguisher. I haven't checked either of mine yet.

Now that's funny With temps in the single digits above and below zero, camper fixing sort of comes to a halt. Sunday the freeze wave is supposed to break. A whopping 27F!! Yeh ha! This coming Thursday the temps are supposed to hit 53F???

Well, my project didn’t happen in a day, but here’s my latest repair and improvement. I had rotten luan and rippling wallpaper/ceiling-paper in the bathroom wardrobe. The extent of rot wasn’t as bad as I had feared.

Interesting how the siding has the maroon stripe on the inside.....

It was a learning experience and more work than I anticipated. Luckily I finished up right before the arctic blast and we’re looking forward to trying it out. Originally it was open space for hanging clothes and 2 small shelves in the back. We’re really not the hanging clothes types.

Looks good! Was the damage a result of a past roof leak?

Thanks

Yes, I believe it was from previous water intrusion but took a while for it to show up.

What’s the status on your T-1950 rebuild? Waiting for warmer weather?

We are just now starting to thaw out yesterday... I have some work I wanted to get done on the T310SR with replacing window putty tape to butyl tape and a front diamond plate upgrade. It has been so darn cold all camper fix'ing has come to an abrupt halt. Working in an unheated shop at 0 means all tools and camper parts etc are 0 or lower.... Today I'm hoping to actually start back up doing something. We have a heat wave at 31 out now. Supposed to get some snow accumulation this weekend.

The T1950 is on the list but it will come after I get the T310 updated. I'm expecting maybe, within the next 3 to 4 weeks we will crank up on the T1950 project, weather permitting.

We are in the 50s and 60s here this week so I will be taking advantage of the warm weather as well. Right before it turned cold, a friend offered up some diamond plate that she had left from her camper remodel. I want to use it on the bottom front. Do you replace the existing aluminum siding with the diamond plate or install over top of it? Can't really tell from pics.

Thanks,
Tommie
