We're Ready!

I haven't been here for a while and I have some catching up to do. Life does get in the way sometimes. Nothing has really changed much in our world, but we are ready to get camping again. Well, ok.....One thing has changed. Shelley is retiring next week. I'm tickled for her! We'll have a little less money coming in and it's going to be a bit of an adjustment. She has worked all her life, and has been a/the breadwinner the whole time - until I came on scene. That's when it became a real partnership. Needless to say, she's pretty nervous about it. I have no doubt it'll work out, though. Unfortunately, I won't be able to join her for another 5 years or so.

Anyhow..... I just got the wheel bearings cleaned and packed on the little one last week, and coincidentally we grabbed an impromptu weekend in Caprock Canyons. Got the bug Tuesday and they only had a 3 spaces left, so we took 2 of them while we had the chance. Going to be a beautiful weekend for it, and we'll have some good friends with us as well. Our little T-1350 will look like a dwarf alongside their 30-something motor home, but I'll bet we get more heads to turn. These little squirts tend to stand out.

Anxiously awaiting heading out tomorrow....

Enjoy! Looking forward to some pictures hopefully.

Still socked in here. Snow and ice, but we are having rain at the moment and I hope that it will free my vehicles up by weekend.

My daughter is coming to visit Easter weekend and it would be nice for her to get up the driveway maybe!

At least a few are getting out. Again enjoy!

I know what you mean. You've had it kinda rough up there this year. We have a friend that lives out in the boonies in Maine, and she's passed on some pics and stories that'll make your mouth drop.

I'm kinda slow getting pics up, but here are a few from our weekend in Caprock Canyons. Our friends are in the 30-something-foot motor home in the first shot.

We got an escort as we left the park to come home. I wonder if one of these is the one that left us a present in our spot before our arrival.

The first night, I was even able to get some decent galaxy photos. The one on the lower left is the one that had a supernova going off last year in January.

The weather was beautiful, and I even survived a 6 mile hike with our Marine veteran friend. He has 6 years on me, and I wasn't about to let him show me up! Here is a video of some of the scenery along the trail.

Canyon Rim Trail

It was beautiful weather, and a professor emeritus from our workplace gave an astronomy/constellation presentation while we were there, and had a couple of his large telescopes for viewing. Caprock Canyons is incidentally the 2nd darkest spot in Texas for astronomy. Some of the people there asked him some pretty........."interesting?".....questions - stuff that any first grader should know. I found myself wondering where they went to school. <G>

Great weekend, great weather, and very little wind until we went to leave Sunday morning. All there is to do now is......MORE!

Wow! Beautiful pictures! I'm a little jealous, sitting up here in PA still freezing.
