Ok, sorry I keep posting things that arent related to Sunline's, and if anyone thinks I shouldnt, then I'll be happy to stop, but I love seeing these crazy one-off campers and thought I'd share them with you.
I was riding home from Jerome Arizona to our campground in Cottonwood like Kitty had recommended, and spotted this guy sitting in a little park just taking a break from the road. I was on the motorcycle and was able to stop quick enough to make the turn into the park.
The owner was very nice and said he had finally retired this past summer and is now living in this full-time. He had worked his whole life in the auto restoration business, and this had been his little project.
It was originally a Corvair van with a small sleeper cab on the back. He had nicknamed it Corvairstream.
The back was all aluminum, so he painted the body and bottom portion to match, and did it all with rattle can!! That's just spray paint for you non-automotive types.
He had fabricated this top portion out of aluminum to make the lines flow and had hinged it so he could store things under it like his propane tank and other assorted goodies.
This is what it looked like with the top part opened up.
Dennis said that he had spotted this in someones backyard and it had been sitting for years. He offered them $500 and started the rebuild.
This was really a unique camper, and while I was sitting there talking with him, a few other people stopped to ask questions just like me. I joked that it's going to take him a long time to travel the country with out being stopped every few miles. He said it's hard for him to pull into a gas station or a campground without spending a few hours giving tours and showing it off, so he is pretty used to it.
Just thought I'd share some interesting shots with some fellow campers.
Take care
Pat
