Time to sell

After many great years and memories it is time to sell our Sunline. We are moving up to a Class A. I am wondering if anyone has any input on pricing. Its a 2006 267 SR. It's really a 2005 body style but the dealer and title say its an 06. Either way, blue book value puts it at 8200 low retail. The dealer offered us 6500 on a trade in. We are going with a private purchase so we have to sell it ourselves. I hate the process but would love to see it go to a new home. I just don't know if there is a market out there for a ten year old Sunline. I feel like the NADA value is inflated, especially considering the large number of used trailers on the market. I know that Sunline quality can't be matched but I don't think the average buyer is aware or even cares. The quality of trailers being put out these days is discouraging. Looking for input guys. Thanks.

If the camper is in really good shape, inside and out, no leaks, tires good, battery good, spare tire, main awning is in good shape and all appliances work, the $8,200 is not that far off. You will be hard pressed to find one at that price in real good shape on a dealers lot.

If you find the right buyer who knows what they want and want a level a quality at a good price, it will sell. It might take a little time, but now is good season for selling. You can always give it away.

To a couple just starting out, it might be hard for them with that size camper, they need a tow vehicle to be able to handle it. The 7,000# GVWR Sunnies do not need as large a TV as the 8,600# ones.

That camper is still light years ahead of many new ones. If I myself was looking for a good used camper, I would consider it. (no I do not need one right now...)

Good luck and hope this helps

John

PS. Search on line dealers for any Sunlines. See if you can find a 8,600# GVWR, 2006 slide camper of any floor plan in great shape less than $8,200.

It is in good shape, everything works, and new tires last year. The interior is in excellent condition. The battery could probably be replaced but we never dry camp so had no need. The awning has some normal wear and I would probably replace it if I was going to keep it. Other than that, it's good to go. It is heavy though, loaded up around 7500+.

I looked around at others for sale and it seems that the pricing is not that far off but I don't know that they are selling either. I don't want to sit on it for a year but I don't want to give it away either. Once the snow melts I will take some photos and put it up on the website. Hopefully someone will have some interest.

Yes, there were a handful of 2006 trailers (a mix of floorplans) built with 2005 specs, including interior colors. No idea why, but there are others out there.

I've seen some news articles lately that say the used RV market is hot right now. That said, to a new buyer in our throwaway society, you're right in that they probably won't see much value in an 11 year old trailer. But it still should be worth what John said. These were and are a cut above the rest and not quite comparable to other 2006 trailers out there.

Right now
in South Central Pa any 06 or 07 SR by dealers the asking price is 12,000 to 13,000 so what you are asking should be a steal.

I will list it in the for sale forum in a week or so. It's still under cover right now. I saw some of those listings out there. Sometimes I wonder what the dealers are thinking. One of them said the cabinets were made by the Amish in PA. Does anyone know if that's true?

Pretty much the whole trailer was. All lot of the factory workers in Denver, PA were Amish. The factory was right in the middle of PA Dutch country.

If it helps any we bought our 2006 T-264SR last fall (end of October 2015) which is pretty must the same size and similar floor plan (no bunks in ours) and the dealer had the asking price price at 9,999 and we thought we hit the jackpot. This was the lowest I had seen for this model most of what I had seen was 12,000-14,000 some even as high as 20,000. I'm sure going into the winter they didn't want it still there in the spring so they marked it to sell and based on the story they told us they probably gave the person that traded not as much as it was really worth.

I would not see 8,000-10,000 for a good condition SR sold by a private owner out of the question if I where still looking (especially in the spring "camper buying season"), but also to your point I knew the Sunline quality and was willing to pay extra for it, you are right most may not know or care.

Wow. Good to know. I saw your postings about the roof repair you and your dad did on your trailer by the way. Great job.

Please see my add under classified. If interested, please contact me thru that post. We have loved this camper, but it's time for my husband and I to move on.
