Penny and I spent Thanksgiving at Myrtle Beach SP. (There is a review of this park on the reviews forum.) We have found our new beach destination. This park is wunnerful!
Situated just south of the town (It's actually within the city limits), the park is an oasis between the developments of MB and its southern neighbor, Surfside.
Coming into the park from a crowded US17, you meander along a live oak-shrouded road and feel yourself decompress. We had planned on dining out mostly, but we couldn't bring ourselves to leave the tranquility of our camp and venture into the hustle-bustle of the tourists.
The campground is large with over 350 sites, but there are many with an all-by-yourself feeling.
The beach is near and spacious. I went for a siwm as the water was still in the mid-60s.
No pool, no game room, none of that "resort" stuff, just lots of trees, dunes, nature trails, programs at the nature center, and peace.
My webshots page has the full album, if you want to see a surfside Santa and more pics of the park. If you have any questions, post here or PM me. There is much more to tell.
