Television choices

We have a 23ft Sunline and want to set up a TV for summer camping. Wondering what TV's and service other have. In the past we had a sm. Tv with a converter box which actually worked well. Of late we have set up a Direct TV dish and ran a cable through the storage door. This is difficult to get the dish set at the correct direction and leaves the storage door open. Our plans for the summer are to take several short 3 or 4 day camps at different locations here in Michigan. Any suggestions for TV purchases and what are options to Direct TV or help is setting their dish up every 3 days.

Many sunlines had a barrel connector that more often than not was never used it was intended for campgrounds that had cable. It has an outside and an inside "F" connection that should connect to you sat TV cable and the TV inside with a jumper TV cable. I have an updated standard RV TV antenna that I use with a cheap 19" flat TV I'm far from a TV watcher but I can pick up weather/news most anywhere I go.I'll add the outside connection usually had a small cap outside with a little chain.

TV Choices

Billbowhunt: My rig is set up for mainly 12v so I purchased a 12v 19in TV from Wal-Mart. I never found one in the store tv section so one day I complained to the department manager about not having any. She replied that they are in the entertainment area ?? She took me to the computer area and in with the monitors were 19in 12v/110v TVs Frank

I use a small LED TV and ran a cord for the antenna through an existing hole under the back of my Sunny. I have a HDTV antenna I got off of Amazon. It does pick up some channels. I have it mounted to a telescoping pole I had for the pool. I can let it up and down as needed and I transport it in the camper or the tow vehicle. Works pretty well for me. However, the last couple of trips I downloaded videos from Netflix to my iPod and hooked the iPod to the TV.

Thomascine: This is the antenna I installed on the 1550. The Batwing was too big. I installed the King 0A8500 with the signal finder. Works great; Frank

The batwings with the wingman option were OK I upgraded to a flat panel Winegard it's does work a bit better and is a lot easier to tune in because it receives from both sides.

I looked at one of these but I didn't want to install anything else on the roof. Still a bit paranoid I guess.

They do make TV antennas that can be mounted on a window. By far the roof mount is the winer. If you are near a big city it really doesn't matter what you use except for rabbit ears they are so yesterday!

I have an antenna that mounts in the window but it didn't pick up any channels, at two different campgrounds. I tried two different brands with no luck. I bought this outdoor one that is an omni-directional and now I do pick up some channels even at one of the campgrounds I couldn't before (have to telescope it up above the trailer). LOL...It's a cheap one but it works.

Hi. I am looking to upgrade the antenna on our new 06 SR264. The King looks good. It requires 12v. Does the antenna lead to the roof run 12v, or did you run a separate line?
We love Narragensett. We camp at Fishermans all the time. We live near the Cape. Thanks

Antenna

You only need to run 12v to the wall control plate. Power will go from the plate to the antenna through the TV cable. There is a on/off switch on the plate. When the switch is in the off position signal goes to the TV from a satellite box or campground cable. In the on position the signal comes from the roof antenna. Frank

Antena

The King Jack comes with a 12 volt adapter. The roof antenna plugs into it and another cord (attached to the plug ) plugs into the TV. Comes with full directions and not at all complicated to hook up. Works great.

Antenna

Relie I think we are talking about 2 different antennas. The link below is what I installed. It does not come with the cords you are describing. Maybe I am describing it differently. Frank

The one I am using attaches to the antena mast on the trailer. It's a King Jack.

No, I've had the Bat Wing and it didn't work for me. This is a separate antena that replaces the original one.

King Jack

That's it. Works like a charm. He should check the cable going to the antena to make sure that he's got 12 volts in the cable. I had to change the cable on mine.
If you don't have 12 volts, you don't have reception. I ran all new cable just to get good reception. I don't know how the reception is at Fishermans but, down the road where we are it rough.
