T310SR New to Us Sunline -Now at home - Pic's inside and out

Fellow Campers

Cindy and I are on the road following up on a lead to a potential new to us 2004 310SR Sunline. We are ½ way there tonight. Hopefully this hotel wireless connection will stay intact to post this….

Email and digital pictures are a wonder thing for those of us on a search and rescue mission to obtain a Sunline…. I have been in contact with the dealer now every day this week setting up this inspection on Friday. I email them a letter and tell them what I need/want and the next day a phone call comes in plus more pictures. How else do you investigate a camper almost 500 miles away…..

When I sent them my 19 item inspection list that I was going to do when I arrived and asked them to have the camper pulled out and plugged into shore power, I think they knew we are serous on considering the camper.

Or maybe it was item 18 and 19 which was to do and witness a 3 minute pressure drop test on the LP gas system and to jack up the camper and for me to spin the wheels and check the bearings and brakes…. I got their attention.

We have an agreement on the price already subject to inspection. It’s either a camper in top shape or no deal. They must really want to clear out their used inventroy.

Last night as I was printing maps and finding hotels, I zoomed in on Muddy Creek road near Reading PA. H’mm I know that name Holy cow, that’s the same Muddy Creek road Sunline was on!!! I’m really in Sunline Country!!! I never realized how close this was to the factory or worse what was the factory . I could of done a factroy tour when I was here. Guess not now.

Well have to hit the hay, big day on Friday.

Will keep you posted if this one jumps out and says, “It’s the one”.

Maybe even a picture of ‘The Camper 2” on it’s maiden voyage camping on the way home. I hope, I hope, I hope….

John

PS A super big THANKS to Quetse for helping us get this far.

John & Cindy,

Have a safe trip and good luck. I hope everything works out for you. It looks like the Sunline you guys have been waiting for. Mary and I can relate, we had a similar situation when we bought our T-280SR.

Definitely, keep us updated on the outcome.

If it's the one - you have to bring it to the Eastern M&G next year to show it off .

John,
Good luck at Schaeffer's! I'm sure you're the kind of customer they want...one that is on a mission for something specific. I really hope this Sunny works out for you! Keep us posted.

Just an FYI on Tom Schaeffers.

I bought my 2363 from them, the transaction went smooth and I was very satisfied with the deal. They did get a little testy when I had to delay pick-up for my storage facilty to get final approval to open (they were a new facility) but TS did cooperate with me. I think it was the business manager having a bad day at the time.

Tom Schaeffers was a Sunline dealer but dropped Sunline about a year before they closed. Maybe they knew something the rest of us didn't.

John & Cindy,

Have a very safe trip and hopefully the 310 will be everything your wanting/expecting it to be. John it sounds like you'll be checking that thing out with a fine tooth comb, so "IF" you tell us you got it, we'll know you found a "gem". Unfortunately, I will have to wait until sunday night to check in as I'm going to the VA State Samboree with a friend and no internet available there Best of Luck

Fellow Campers

Well, “This is it! ” We are now happy campers and this T310 SR is coming home with us… When you walk in and go “WOW” well, you know. Amazingly as we have been looking at a lot of high end campers in the last few months and while they are nice, they did not have the WOW factor to them. This one did. Plus about ½ my customs mod’s I made for the T2499 will fit this camper.

T2499 will be bonding with the T310SR on Sunday when we get home. We will be a 2 Sunline family for a while. I (we) are having separation anxiety with the T2499. If this T310SR lead did not come up, we would not of moved on this but all the stars lined up and it did.

The day started shaky and I was thinking, man don’t tell me I drove all this way to have a situation to deal with… . but it came out good. When I came into Reading I called my salesmen’s cell phone. He answered just fine, but then told me his wife just went into labor and he was tied up… . I told him no problem you have bigger issues to support, so I asked who I should contact at the dealership and did all the info on this deal get transferred? He said yes it did and to see Dan.

Then I’m thinking, man there are a lot of very uncommon things about this deal that I ironed out with the other sales guy….did all that stuff get conveyed over….

We showed up and asked for the controller as that was the fill in contact. He came out gave us the keys and another salesmen walked us over. The TT was pulled out, the fridge fired up and plugged in next to the service bay like it was suppose to. That salesmen stayed with us about 5 minutes and left which was good actually as I already told my main guy it was going to take me 4 hours to check the camper out. We did a quick look over and then went to lunch. Yup, it was even better in real life then the pictures….

When we where at lunch the original salesmen call us as his wife was told to go back home and wait some more…..So I met up with him at the dealership and I dug into the inspection. He was only there about 20 minutes and enough time to get me the step ladder I requested for the roof. We had the rest of the afternoon all to ourselves to inspect, check out, where will we put this and that.

Who ever had this camper, never camped a lot in it. It is immaculate inside and underneath. I can tell on the stabilizers and tires this camper has not seen many camping trips or towing miles. Even the awning did not have a bird stain or anything on it. Other then wet awning stink it was fine.

The effects of the sun outside has had the most effect without proper preventative TLC. It will be a big scrub job to eat into the black streaks and take the oxidation off the blue siding paint, but it will come off. During lunch we went to Dollar General and bought a bottle of Awesome to see if it would cut this. Well good to it’s name, it did. There is a lot of square feet on this thing…. But it will look like it’s T2499 sister in no time.

The Roof was the most amazing. I was expecting major mold issues. Well to my surprise, NO. There was dirt, it needed a cleaning, but no freckle black spec’s like I have on the T2499 at my house and the caulk was prefect. I know Ohio has a mold issue, well now I know how bad as PA does not. In late afternoon after the inspection we closed the deal and now own it.

This evening I mounted the Reese DC in their yard and did a quick setup on the WD. Saturday we will go back, finish up the fine tuning on the DC and we are camp ground bound. We are staying at Cowans Gap SP for Saturday and heading back to Ohio on Sunday.

I’ll take pic’s and post. I have no way to get them off the camera on the laptop.

If it was not for Sunline Club this opportunity would never of come to be. Thanks Sunline Club and a real big thanks to Quetse for posting a link to this TT a whopping 5 minutes after I posted on the Wanted forum…

I could not figure out if we drove past the factory off the Turnpike coming up RT 222 or not. I was on Google earth Wednesday finding roads and that was how I bumped into Muddy Creak drive. And I zoomed into what I thought may have been the factory as those images are older.

Well more on Sunday.

Happy Campers Cindy and John signing off.

Congrats John & Cindy,

I'm snitching some wireless connection here, as I was anxious to see how things went for you. I am SO HAPPY that everything worked out well for you. I can't wait till you get some pics posted. And then we'll be getting periodic updates from you about your mods to this Sunline. OH, hehe have you started your "plans" for the larger storage building, yet? I know you won't be letting this baby sit out in the weather very long. You had wondered about the additional length, well by the time you get home with it, that worry will be in the past. Be safe traveling home.

John & Cindy,

Congratulations on your new T-310SR. You guys have to be so excited. We're very happy for you. We know what it's like getting that trailer that you say Wow, and then smile all the way home.

I hope you bring it to the Eastern M&G next year. I would love to see it and meet the two of you.

John I remember a quote you made back in June in one of your previous posts, which you said:

Well John, those days are over :P , Now you get to experience the fun of cleaning an extra 4 feet with the rest of us . I was going to put it in square footage , but I don't want to razz you too much , not during your moment of glory and excitement. I'll wait until the first time you wash the BIG guy

Have a safe trip home, can't wait to see your pictures.

John and Cindy,

Congratulations on your "dream come true". I know what you mean when you walk inside and say "Wow", we did the same with our 289 when we first saw it. I know you'll enjoy it for years to come.

John & Cindy,
I am So excited that this worked out for you! It had to be meant to be. There are too many coincidences for it not to be, starting with us actually stopping at Schaeffer's on a day that they're CLOSED (which we never do), to you posting that you were looking for a 310 while I was sitting at the computer, to you being willing to drive 7 hours to see it. And YES you surely saw the old Sunline factory. When you exit at 222 from the TP you make a right onto the 222 North ramp. If you looked to your right immediately upon merging onto 222 North, those 2 buildings just below the highway were Sunline. Good luck with the new Sunny I can't wait to see the pictures.

John & Cindy:

Congratulations. I'm glad their sale was worth the long trip. How was your stay at Cowans Gap? We stayed there a few weekends ago. While some of their sites are a bit small, I hope you had no trouble finding one that was able to accommodate your new trailer. I look forward to seeing the modifications you design/install this winter.

Fellow Campers.

Here are some quick pic's of our T310SR trip home. She allready now has 498 miles on her by us.... More inside pic's coming soon.

At Cowans Gap SP in PA. WOW what a nice park. And for only $19... Those that like to be "In the woods" This one is for sure. My kind of place. And there where Sunlines all over....

A pic at a rest spot looking up the road out of camp. What a great weekend to camp.

And Rt 30. heading back to I70. Note to self. Next time back track up SR 75 and get on I76. Go the long way and it is the short cut... no need to go West to get mountian towing....

I'll get some inside pics of this beauty soon.

Just 2 happy Campers in Central Ohio

John and Cindy

Thanks for sharing the pictures.

How did it tow? Feel much difference over your T2499?

John,

That is one nice looking Sunny. It looks like the TT meant to be behind your Suburban. Now you just need some new vs. old pics!

Jon

P.S. Did you guys have any wind? We had wind around here all day yesterday. Towing was miserable!!! I pulled off at a rest area and cranked another 360 degrees on the sway control. Instead of the trailer going off the road, the whole rig did!
