T2470 Water Pump?
Recently purchased a Sunline 2470, as such this may be a "silly" question for some of you veterans...
My trailer's water pump works, in that when I turn it on via the switch over the stove, the pump is activated and water flows from the taps/toilet upon demand.
Question: Am I supposed to turn on the water pump each time I want water, or should I let the pump run even when I'm not using any water?
MANY thanks in advance for any/all responses. I just don't want to use/burn out or damage the pump if in fact I'm supposed to run it while water is needed.
Semper Fidelis,
Rob

Hi Leatherneck1,
Welcome to the SOC and congrats on your recent purchase of your "new to you" 2470. The switch on the stove hood is an off/on switch that is only used when you are turning the pump on/off at the end of a camping trip or some other somewhat extended period. The pump has a built in pressure switch that turns the pump on/off when you turn a faucet on or off. The pump will run until the faucet is closed/turned off. When water is needed again, the built in pressure switch will turn the pump on again. The pump will continue to supply water as long as needed, assuming you have water in the fresh water tank. It will not stop if the fresh water tank is too low or empty. Then, the switch on the range hood must be used to stop the pump. It does cycle on and off while a faucet is open. If the pump cycles while all faucets are closed/off, a leak in the system is likely indicated. If the pump pressure is nearly at the start pressure, it might run for a second or two until it is at its stop pressure. Enjoy and have fun! And Thanks for your service!

A PS to Ham Radio Op post. The pump is not needed when hooked to an external water supply by hose.
Welcome to forum.
No such thing as a silly or stupid question here. We were all new at one time or another.

Personally I would shut the wall switch off when away from the trailer.
I say this from personal experience that could have been a disaster.
I was lucky to be in my trailer when my toilet valve assembly let go. The pump wall switch was on and you would be surprised how fast you can move some water. I got to the switch and shut it off. If I hadn't been there it would have pumped as much water as the fresh water tank had in it.

X 2 on to shut off the pump if you leave the camper and go for a walk etc.
In our case the tank was almost empty, we went for a walk and came back the smell of hot electrical insulation. The pump had started, must of been to build pressure, it sucked an air bubble, lost pump prime and ran non stop for about an hour with no water pumping. Learned the hard way, flip it off if you leave the camper. Same goes for if you are hooked up to city water, shut the water off. That can be worse than a 32 gallon fresh tank full....
Rob, Welcome to Sunline Owners Club! And as Jim says, there are no silly questions. Ask away. We welcome new members and glad to help.
Have fun in your new Sunny
John

Hi Rob,
It's a good thing that we read posts others write. Though I, too, shut the pump off when we are going to be away from the site, I did fail to mention both that and turning off the faucet that supplies the trailer with water if we are at a site that has water available, when we leave for a period of time, walk, etc. Thanks to the guys who chimed in with the extra thoughts.
Paul

Thank you all! For your time/responses.
I'm happy to report that I was able to quickly find and remedy my plumbing issue. After closing two small valves under the bathroom sink, water pressure was restored and my pump quickly built pressure and turned silent until water was used (yes I'm still able to run water in the bathroom sink).
What a pleasure to have pressurized water readily available at any time!
As a bonus I was also able to get the fridge to work, so now I have another creature comfort to enjoy in my "new" trailer!!
Next on the "hit list" is the awning. Hopefully when I figure out how to deploy it, the material won't be rotted/shredded to the point where it'll have to be replaced... Time will tell.
Does anyone have any reference material on using the awning for a T2470 that they'd be willing to post/share??
Again - thanks to all who responded. What a wonderful resource/forum!
Semper Fi,
Rob

The infamous "low-point drains" strike again. Show of hands, how many have dumped pink stuff??????? Anyhow, FYI- those valves are used when you want to drain the water out of the trailer water system. In therory, the water will drain to the two low point valves and when opened out of the system. Don't depend on just that for winterizing.
Welcome to the club.

Rob,
First, welcome to SOC!
If you are just looking for basic how-to open/close the awning instructions, this is the video we used when we first got our Sunline:

Nice Video Link... Thanks
Our two (2) black knobs on the inside of the arms are seized up / frozen and now the knobs are stripped out. Figure I'll try and cut them off, anywhere to get replacements ?

Look on eBay under RV rafter knobs or at PPL rv parts.
There is also a post I made on removing rafter to work on it. Look in advanced search under jim44646
