Sunline Closure
Howdy everyone;
WE imported our 2499 which we love. The RIV department says they need official notice of the closure of Sunline RV in lieu of the recall letter that they do not like from General RV. I find this strange but then sometimes Governments do things we do not all understand eh. Does anyone know where to obtain an official notice.
Ted

You said "says they need official notice of the closure of Sunline RV in lieu of the recall letter that they do not like from General RV.
The recall letter, can you expand on this? Do you actually have a recall letter from your dealer?
I'm assuming you mean the recall on the Dometic fridge? We have not heard anything about the official recall letters coming out yet. Any info you have would be of great help.
Now to you original question. Where to get official notice. I heard some rumblings on RV.net that Sunline had filed for Chapter 7. If this is actually true you might be able to find a public copy of the filing on line.
Other than news paper articles that we can get, I do not know if they are "official" or not.
Thanks
John
PS. What is the "RIV" department? Is this motor vehicles or something in Canada?

RIV
For those of you who live in the USA the RIV in Canada is the Registry of Imported Vehicles. If we buy an American or Canadian made vehicle in the USA and import it to Canada there is no duty at the border. We pay 206.70 canadian dollars and enter into the program. It is then a matter of having certain paper work and inspections done with in 45 days. If this is not completed then the unit goes back to the uSA and comes back to Canada and finish the job. I know I know it sounds like a lot but we saved quite a bit and so far by keeping on top of it we have the unit liceneced and inspected we just need an "Official" notice of closure to satisfy the people at RIV. General RV, who have been GREAT, gave us what we consider to be a suitable Recall letter, which says in effect that there are not any outstanding recalls from Sunline persuant to this T2499.
Now the good news. When we bought the trailer from General the radio CD player was not as origianal and they told us they would get us one. Well we received a call today from General RV and the radio is in later today Sat Jan 6 we will go to general and pick it up and see if we can get a copy of the closure notice for Sunline from The sales people there.
Have a great day
Ted

Thanks for the explanation. Never knew that. Learn something new every day…
And now it all adds up. They have something similar here in the USA as well where when the owner sells a vehicle, all the recalls have to have been completed as they are the ones registered with the manufacture of the vechile.
In the case of Sunline, the Dometic fridge recall has not made it to the RV dealers yet as it is still being sorted out what will be done. So you would be clear on this at the time of your sale as it is not made it in the system yet.
My 2004 T2499 did end up being in the Dometic fridge numbers. And when I bought the TT new, I registered the warranty direct with Dometic. Sunline had all the forms in the manual. I know Dometic has me in there system as they have tried several times to sell me extended warranty. At the time I did not take it. Now, well good question.
Hope your search comes up good. I hope Sunline comes back in the good light it use to be as we are the lucky ones to have a great camper before the issues of present day.
Happy camping in the back yard or camp ground. We did the same thing the first year.
John

Ted:
There was a bankruptcy notice in the latest issue of the Central Penn Business Journal. Here's a link to their website:
http://www.centralpennbusiness.com/
You must register on their website in order to download articles and information. I hope this provides the information you need.

I was not actually referring to the previous articles. On January 5, 2007 under the legal notices section, there was a short, standard legal notice listing the name and address of Sunline Coach Company and a statement that they had filed for bankruptcy under Chapter 7 regulations.
I did not register either, but I read the notice in the copy of the journal that we receive at my office.

I did the registration & found that registering does not give you access to the article. You only get the articles if you also have a paid subscription.

On the question of a 2007 upolstery sample book, I will say that we were able to select our upolstery from a sample book and I presume it was for year 2007 since that's what ours is. The colors and patterns were representative of what appeared in the latest Sunline Brochure. For what it's now worth that's our experience.

Hi Jon,
That sounds very familiar to me. Won't swear to it though. Memory at my time of life is not one of my strong suits if you get my meaning.
