Some info on my moms health
Hi Everyone,
I decided to make this post since so many of you know that mom & I are diehard campers/travelers. Many of you met us at the '08 Rally in Mexico, and know mom is having some major health issues.
Today we visited an oncologist, and mom is scheduled to go into Mercy Hospital, Baltimore, MD on Sunday August 17th, have female cancer surgery on the 19th, and come home on the 24th. All followup visits will be in his Hagerstown, MD office. That helps on the travel time & mileage.
I'll keep everyone posted on her progress.
Kitty

Kitty,
The best of luck and prayers to you and your mom. Always think positive. My dear wife Amy just beat a skin cancer called Melanoma. We caught it in time and we just received the results saying she was free last week. My mother is a thirty year survivor of Colon Cancer. It can be beaten.

My mother went through the operation early this spring. The success rate is quite high with early detection. Your mother will be in our prayers.

Prayers from Moon Township too. Best of luck to both of you. Might be a good time to have Sunny repaired so when your Mom is all recovered Sunny will be ready and waiting for some Fall camping.

Carol's and my prayers are with you and your Mom. We have been through two mastectomies and two knee replacements with Carol's mom and know how much everyone's prayers and support helps.
Unfortunately, Carol's mom was down with a bad back for this year's Meet-n-Greet, but let's hope we can get them together next year.

Just a little update that I received this morning. Mom will now be going into the hospital this sunday, surgery on the 12th and discharged on the 17th. The doctors office called this morning and advised me of the change.
Thanks to all of you for being here for us.
Kitty

..sorry to get in so late, been busy. Thoughts are with you two from Mass. as well.
Keep a good thought, my mother (5 went through this surgery (full) this spring and was back at work (70 hours plus commuting) as a geriatric physical therapist (tending to geriatric patients- just to clear that up before I get in trouble) in two months or so.
She'll be v-e-r-y sore, but the prognosis should be good.
I hope you two continue to do well, and we're looking forward to meeting you both next year.

Our thanks to everyone for their well wishes and prayers. Moms surgery probably won't be til late tomorrow afternoon so I have been told as of this date. Mom has said she was sorry she ruined our camping this summer. I kept telling her, she didn't ruin camping a bent frame ruined our camping. But she just really don't remember much of anything any more. And Harley is really bewildered without his mommy.
I'll post as soon as I know anything. Thank you all for being here for us,
Kitty

Mom update: surgery went well, all external surgery, removed huge lump and lymph nodes. Now, a bit of info about yesterday. I called the nurse station to check on mom (as I had decided to not call her so as not to rile her, she can get very testy & nasty and when it comes to staying in hospitals, that attitude will show up.) Well, when I called the nurse said mom was vey confused, disoriented and scared, and thought she might feel better if I talked to her. WRONG, she started verbally attacking me, wasn't gonna let the nurses or doctors do anything to her. I felt awful, I tried to xplain to mom that she had to stay to have this surgery in order to start feeling better, She just kept ranting, I had to finally tell her, that I WAS NOT going to come get her, that she would stay there, do as the nurses requested and have her surgery as scheduled, her comment was "We'll see about that". I hung up crying & upset. I called nurse back, explained this to her, she said they would deal with her. This morning when I called to check on her, well she had pulled her IV's out yesterday afternoon, so doctor prescribed a sedative for her if she didn't calm down. Today was better, but I felt like a real heel again because I would not talk with her, as that would rile her up again. She went to surgery late this afternoon, all went well, nothing unexpected, was in recovery doing fine, kidneys functioning well and was going to be put in ICU over night as a precaution with her blood problem. I have spoken to the doctor & nurses, and we agreed that I will not be speaking with mom until saturday, when I can tell her that I will be there sunday to pick her up. We are hoping this will keep her calm and not pull out iv's
So, I'm really hoping mom is going to start feeling a lot better and able to motivate somewhat better, and that she will be pain free once healed.
Thank you all for being here for us,
Kitty

Kitty - glad to hear surgery went well - not happy to hear about her attitude.....but it does not surprise me......Leo and I have dealt with that with both his Mom & Dad....my Mom on the other hand is 80 years YOUNG - still lives by herself (oh I must admit she has a kitten) and understands medicine & medical procedures...so she know shat to expect when going for a procedure. The bad part about Mom is she lives 5 - 6 hours away (depending on traffic)...so I rely on friends to keep an eye on her.....and she will not move up in the "snow country" with us and yes I am her only living child!
Hope things go well for you on Sunday - try to keep your chin & spirits up!
Good luck!

Prayers coming your way from Ohio. Will pray all goes well and I know this is hard on you as much her. My mom had this late last year. 83 years young. They did radiation after words for 5 weeks then on a drug for the rest of her life in place of Chemo. She is back up and going now.
We will pray for you and your mom. I know this is a hard time. Let us know what we can do to help. On line or off.
Take care and God bless.
