Satellite TV - Express Vu??????????????

hi all --- i am hoping that someone is able to help me --- i live in Ontario Canada and received an oval satellite dish for christmas --- yesterday was my first attempt (at home) of getting it all to work before we hit the open road.

problems, problems, problems!!!!!!!!!!!!! the dish i have is oval with the longest section vertical --- it took me a couple of hours to find the signal - but when i got it working --- if there was a slight move, the signal was gone!

now, doe sthe dish shape make a difference?
what is thte simplist way to align a dish? i know if it takes me over 15 minutues to do when i arrive camping - it will never happen.

what am i missing here??????

HELP!

pwb01 is an unknown quantity at this point
I have satellite at home and with Dish Network (they all are different) they have a round one for receiving just one satellite and an oval one which receives two satellites for additional channels and HD. The oval works for either one or two satellites. For camping, I know they have signal finders and devices to aim the dish. You do have to be exact on the aim so any slight movement will interrupt the signal. Anchor the dish well. There are devices that automatically aim the dish and even keep it aimed while traveling but very expensive. Go to Camping World web site and you'll get an idea of what devices there are for satellites.

We had one but never hooked it up and finally returned it. But I sat talking with a guy in a campground one day while he was hooking his up.

He had this little device he said he bought for $29 at Camping World that gave off this high-pitched humming sound. As the signal grew stronger, the sound would get louder. When he was locked on full strength, the signal became very loud and he knew he could tighten, stake..etc the set up down at that location.

We move to much to go through the hassle of setting it up ever day, but after watching many others struggle with their dishes, if we were to ever going to hook one up, I'd pay the few extra bucks, and get the InMotion set-up. You dont have to pay the big bucks and get the one that always stays locked on, but for only a few hundred, you can get one that will find the signal automatically and it's mounted tot he top fo the rig. Only problem is, you have to make sure you have a clear view of the Southern Sky.

Good luck.

Pat
