Right Slide Motor

We have a Solaris Travel Tailer-

Is this the correct replacement motor for the slide out?

Thanks!

That motor drive is for a Sunline with the Venture/Lippert drive system. My 2004 Sunline uses that motor drive. It may or may not fit yours.

Sunline changed manufactures over the years on slide drive systems. The first was Barker, then Delwad(now power gear) then to Lippert and in the Lippert system the early ones had the Venture motor that later Lippert has their own branded motor on the same rack and pinion system.

What year camper and model do you have and any chances of some pics of the slide drive system so we can help back into the brand slide drive you have?

John Thank You so much! We are giving this another go . It’s a 2001 Solaris slide room with bunk beds. Hoping to order the motor and a cover to get the camper out of the rain!

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Tonya

Hi Tonya,

From reading your other posts, and now knowing the year, I believe you have a model 2001 T267SR.

I cannot confirm for sure without pictures of the slide drive system under the camper, but in the 2001 model era Sunline switched from Barker Mfg, slide drive to Dewald. An early build 2001 model, made in mid to late year 2000 could have either.

I'm going on the assumption you have the Dewald posi-lock system. It would look like this under the slide. Take special note the way it is built.

Here is a diagram from another forum member Woodfam

Here are some pics from member Maint1 Dewald system. Take note of the gear teeth on the slide arms and the motor location.
https://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f...tml#post146151

On the Dewald system, they have a motor torque control box that is part of the slide motor system. It is under a small wooden box cover most likely in the front bedroom on your T267SR under the bed. Taking the wood cover off it should look like this, Pic is from Maint1. The black box unit is the torque control.

How do you know it is the motor that is bad? It may be the torque control unit or the motor too? Or a blown fuse or bad auto reset circuit breaker associated with torque control unit that is in the wooden box? Check that out if you have not.

Here is the service manual we have on the Dewald system that was bought out by Power Gear. https://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/d...o=file&id=5632

On page 67 of that manual, is what I believe you have, again if it is the Dewald slide motor drive system and not the Barker Mfg.

Page 81 has phone numbers for Power Gear. Its the place to start. They will most likely not have any idea what a Sunline T267SR is and what it ever had on it. They just sell them to the camper manufactures and they integrate them. If you tell them you have a 2001 vintage Dewald rack and pinion slide drive system, they may be able to help back into the model and parts numbers you need. Be prepared to send them pics of the slide drive system so they can confirm.

If your slide drive does not look like the pics I linked, then please post pics of yours and we can start over on the Barker Mfg system.

Hope this helps.

John

PS. Please let us know how you make out. It will help others in the future on how to get parts for the Dewald system.

Correct Motor w/ Pic

Hello again John!

At some point we were told it was the motor lol

For some time we've had to push and pull on the slide room "to help get it going"...

Here is a picture of the motor and yes T- 267 SR is the model.

Hi Tonya,

H'mm, explain what you are doing and if the problem is only when you start to get going?

It sounds like your motor works, but it may appear "weak" and that cause may not be the motor. We can help if you want to try and correct the issue before buying a new motor. When motors go bad, they die totally most times, meaning they do nothing anymore. They normally only get "weak" when excess drag is put on them or the electrical connections are corroded and it cannot pull enough power to create full horsepower.

Tell us more about the issues you are having.

Hope this helps

John

PS. the pic , next time take the entire motor and what it mounts too. While it looks close to a Dewald, we need the entire mechanism to tell better.

I'll second John's comment regarding "weak" motors. That's extremely rare; caused by a few shorted turns in the armature wiring--which generally only happens if it's overheated by excessive load.

More likely you do have an excessive load, but hopefully it hasn't yet caused enough overheating to cook the wiring. You need to address that load issue before actually replacing the motor.
