Rainy day camping activities

Looking for new ideas to keep boredom at bay when we go camping and it unfortunately rains. It seems to be doing that quite frequently here in Western PA. Thanks for your time and help!

Books, puzzles, DVDs, cross stitching, local tourist visual attractions and reading local newspapers. Talking with each other to see how life is doing for us.

You can purchased DVD's from Goodwill for $3 a pc. and just keep them as a rainy day camper stash. Books cost 89 cents.

On those rain filled days, we just make the best of spending quality time together playing cards and board games, reading and sometimes trying new camping recipes. We really enjoy setting under the awning when it's raining having good conversations or reading. We try not to watch much TV when camping. If we feel like leaving the campsite we go touring around or going shopping.

You could take a deck of cards and a "According to Hoyle" book and learn card games that you never would have learned otherwise.

It matters if it is grownups or kids. Adults can amuse themselves by talking or with 1 deck of cards. Kids are a WHOOOOOOLE nother matter. I was trapped (can you tell I don't have kids lol) in a camper for 3 rainy days with kids and by the next trip I had a tv and a stash of kid movies.

Yahtzee, Uno, Rummycube, Scrabble even on good days. Radio classics on Sirius radio, $1 DVD's from Wally World and dollar stores like 50's sci fi and old time movies. Prairie Home Companion and Car Talk, so much to do, so little time.

A bad day at the campground is better than a good day at work.
