Question for 2004/2005 Sunline Owners

My new-to-me 2004 T-2499 has a broken curtain holder and I was wondering if anyone with this curtain design has had this problem. The bottom of the curtain has a casing that threads onto a plastic piece that is screwed into the wall and gathers the bottom of each side of the curtain. The piece that is broken is on the window behind my swivel chair. I have been unsuccessful in finding a replacement for this broken piece. Does anyone have a source I could try or another possible alternative?

Patricia

We just bought a "new to us " 2499 in Dec and it had the same problem. The dealer in Det. said it was a regular item and had no trouble replacing it.
Welcome to a great product truely a Coach to love

Ted,

Could you tell me how to get in contact with your dealer in Detroit? Maybe I could buy the part from him and he could ship it to me. I haven't had any luck finding a replacement part around here. I live in the South and even when Sunline was alive and kicking, there were just a couple of dealers in my area of the country.

Thanks,

Patricia

Is this the little plastic part you are saying broke?

You can find them at Camping world Click Here

However, if you go to a mini blind store or even a lumber yard, they sell these clips to. Most times at less cost.

I have a "supply" of them. The type of plastic is very brittle and you cannot get your finger in there very well to unhook it.

I will find an alternative or make one. That little clip is close to impossible to unhook and not break. After you break about 3 of them, you get better at it...

I wonder if this is a 2004 T2499 problem or just plan 2004. So far 3 of us have the same issue in the same year camper.

Anyone else have the problem?

John

Wow, the same clip in my '94 for the big picture window blinds was made out of metal.

That happened in our '04 2499 also and we've just done without the piece after replacing it a couple of times. We've traveled over 20,000 miles and always raise the blind to the top when we tow. To ensure the blind doesn't drop, I attached a little bracket beside the window to wrap the cord around.

No, that's not the part that is broken. It's not the mini blind clip. The part that's broken holds the actual fabric curtain at the bottom. The part is white plastic with a hook on the end that holds the curtain in place.

We actually removed those "curtain brackets" we knew we would have problems with them.......we also removed the curtains, I like the "openness without them". We put cafe curtains on an expandable rod in the bedroom area - can push them out of the way during the day and close them at night.

I have not been able to find the bracket you are looking for, but if I run across some, I'll let you know.

Something like this http://www.blindsparts.com/servlet/Detail?no=3008 might work....you would have to reverse the "support bracket" so the cup faced the other way.

It looks like it is made of metal, which sure would be stronger than that plastic bracket.

John...just about any materials would work....have you considered a shower curtain? We used that in our 1950 mounted with an expandable curtain rod.

showertime-

actually saw a nice one, fabric too, at walmart, nice color, would the "room" still breath with a shower curtain? Or is it too heavy?

If you want light weight material, have you thought about using a bed sheet?

John I was thinking more along the lines of a fabric shower curtain NOT plastic/vinyl!

Or as stated a single bed sheet would work.

From the part you are describing, I think it is called a side curtain hold down. Check out these links and let us know if this is what you are looking for:

Rv Designer Collection - Side Curtain Hold Down - Window Covering Hardware - Camping World

Amazon.com: RV Designer Collection A285 Side Curtain Hold Down: Automotive

If this is not what you are looking for, do you have a picture of the part you can post.

Ding Ding Ding, I think Trailblazer is the winner, those are what I think she needs. I 'm not sure but I think my local Camping World actually carries them in stock.
