Our 1st Excursion in Sunline RV

We purchased our pre-owned Solaris 2450 in August, 2013, but did not get around to taking a trip until this past weekend. Before I go further, I want to thank all of the club members for assistance, threads, & particularly threads with explanatory photos attached. We spent the week before our kick off trip researching, cleaning, checking, and doing general preparatory work. Having never towed an RV, I went to a local park and practiced towing, turns, and backing. On 11/07/2013, we left the driveway to Myrtle Beach, SC with reservations at Ocean Lakes RV Campground. Arrived a little late and had to set up by flashlight. Ocean Lakes was a great choice with excellent facilities and staff. Even though our Solaris 2450 was "pre-owned", everything worked to perfection. We met another Sunline couple and they raved about their unit also. Departed Myrtle Beach on 11/11/13 with fond memories of our 1st Sunline excursion.
For other "NEWBIES" here is a quick list of a few things I learned: Allow more time for towed vehicle travel; Keep speed on Interstates about 55 - 60 MPH; Expect people entering highway from ramps to race to get/stay in front of you; Stay in the right lane of the interstate as much as you can; Tractor trailer rigs will create movement of your RV/TV when they are about at your 8 o'clock left side. Hold on to the steering wheel; Buy and use good extension mirrors. My set cost about $100.00 on Amazon, but were worth every penny with extra visual assistance; Make sure before you leave for your first trip you understand how to use the equipment & accessories on your RV; Practice backing as much as you can. It is a different driving orientation. We are looking forward to future RV adventures. Again, thanks to all the club members for your answers and patience.
Cheers,
Charlie & Donna

Charlie and Donna,

Congratulations on your maiden voyage!

Sounds like you are now hooked on Sunline adventures. Have to watch out for that, it is highly contagious...

Glad everything went off well and thanks for sharing your first adventure.

Your list to help other new folks is dead on. Good job.

Happy camping

John
