New member of the SOB

We would like to thank everyone for all of the help and encouragement we received from this forum over the past 7 years. We started out green and new to the RV world and have learned so much from this club. We started out with a 2005 T-1950 and really liked it and pulled over 20000 miles. We then moved up to a 2006 2499 for a little more room and loved it even more and pulled it 13000 miles. We are spending more time traveling each year and decided to move up again. We pick up our 34 foot Holiday Rambler motorhome next week and become a SOB. We are doing the big Alaska trip and thought we would like more room.

That's quite a saga... and quite the upgrade. What's happening with the 2499? Are you keeping a home base in MO? My brother--whom you also met in FL--is downsizing and has "taken up residence" in SD--a very RV friendly state--as they travel around in a B+ Sprinter.

We really enjoyed the Alaska Hwy. in 2006. Be sure to stop at Liard Hot Springs. It was the last trip for the popup and convinced us to get rid of it although that was mostly a quality thing rather than space. We sold it a month after getting home and bought our 2499 about 3 weeks later and are still travelling with a similar size trailer.

The Sunline 2499 is on St Louis Craigslist. We feel that the Sunline is a great camping trailer good for the weekend or a couple weeks and our motorhome is RVing and good for living in for 2 or 3 months at a time. We have been RVing in a camping trailer I know that a lot of full timers register a lot in SD and maybe we have to look into that. Thanks for the reply.

Well, we almost made it to Alaska this summer. We made is as far as Whitehorse Yukon, 300 miles from Alaska border and yes we did enjoy our dip at Liard spring. My wife became ill at Whitehorse and after spending a week in and out of the ER with no results and getting weaker by the day we called our children. Two of our children flew in to Whitehorse, our son flew home with his mom, our daughter road with me to Great Falls MT where I dropped her off to fly back to Chicago as our other daughter waited in St Louis. Our son then flew back to Bozeman where I picked him up and he helped me drive to St Louis. My dear wife had problems with her UPJ on her left kidney and the kidney was only functioning at 20% causing her illness. She ended up having surgery and is now on the road to recovery. The surgeon said it was probably there from birth but just decided to get blocked and act up at 3400 miles from home. Boy, did our children step up to the plate and make us proud of them.

Glad to hear both wives are recovering nicely!

Isn't nice to know that the children we raised (sometimes with difficulty) are there for us when we need them.......

There is always next year!
