People do it all the time. There sign shops that specialize in that sort of thing. And there are a number of internet sources as well.

The worst pitfall I know of getting is it on straight.

Our son's fiance has one on her Jeep Wrangler that reads:

[Al in PA]

My Sunline spare tire cover is about shot. My daughter has a silk screen unit that you create the screens from a digital photo. I'm going to ask her if she can apply the Sunline logo to a generic white tire cover. It may be challenging with multiple color overlays, but it's worth a try.
