last outing for season

With the nice weather forecast for this weekend, Charlie and I are going to enjoy the last outing for this season and celebrate our 5 yr. anniversary (a week late).

Next week we will need to winterize before this becomes a common scene . Sure wish we could pack things up and head south (or west) for the winter.

QuadDriver,

We should have sun with temps in 70's/low around 50 the next few days . We planned on going last week but it was cold and rainy.

Wishing you sunny skies and safe travels.

We've always hated that "last of the year", though it still applies. We still hope to hook up and get a 3-week early November layover in FL ......(and we're taking flu shots and vitamins in hopes of avoiding those darn fall colds)........

We still have a couple trips planned - one for next weekend, then one the first weekend of Nov. Also going to VA to see the kidos at Christmas, then on the Charleston, SC until the new year...provided we don't get snowed in like last year! We'll probably blow out the lines and put a little pink stuff in the traps after the Nov. trip, then again before heading north in January. I have my fingers crossed for a milder winter this year.

Our last trip of the year was the ADK M&G last weekend. We're home this weekend with a speed trip to Rochester and back on Sunday for our grandaughter's birthday party. Next weekend is Homecoming for my high school - I'm an officer of the Alumni Association so I can't be missing that.

Most campgrounds close around October 15th here in New York State so there really won't any season left for us.

They're predicting a hard frost tonight with temps down into the low 20's in parts of our area. I went to Home Depot this morning for RV antifreeze - $4.98 a gallon this year. They had a huge pallet full of it near the cash registers.

The water system is drained, blown out, filled with pink stuff and ready for the winter. All the holding tanks are drained and the water heater too. We still have some stuff to get out of the trailer and some stuff to put into it for the winter. Have to place some fresh mouse baits and ant traps, too. This is the first winter that we've had to find a storage lot for it as we can not keep it here at the house all winter.

Luckily, we found a pretty good deal. A guy in the next town built a house with a huge RV carport attached. He keeps a monster Class A in it. They winter in Florida and rent garage space and the RV port. It's sheltered on two sides and open on the lee side so snow doesn't blow in there too much. $400 from the 20th of October to the last week of April. Not bad at all. We can get at it if we need to during the winter if the driveway isn't buried in snow. There are two sheriff's deputies that live within sight of the place and they watch it for the owner.

Those of you who can camp later into the fall and even the winter are very lucky. Enjoy and tell us all about it!

We are on our last trip of the season right now. This is our third day at Mountain Vista Campground - Camping in the Scenic Pocono Mountains. Have had the heat on every night, but the day time temps have been warm. Tonight will be the coldest at around 32. Most campgrounds around here will close by the end of the month.

We're kind of the opposite of everyone. We live in Texas so we're just entering our good camping season (in our opinion). Summers are so hot. We'll be leaving tomorrow for a week at Port Aransas, Texas on the Gulf Coast. We're enjoying some really nice weather now, so we're looking forward to this trip. My husband likes to fish and I enjoy birdwatching and reading.

Unfortunately Leo and I had our "last hooray" this past weekend (Gratz, Pa).....the good part was warm sunny weather during the day.....we could sit around the fire at nite with just a fleecy on....the great part was camping with friends of over 30 years!!!!!

Have fun winterizing !!!!

Gary & I are "hoping" to head to Pigeon Forge the day before Thanksgiving and return home the sunday after thanksgiving. I am hoping the weather will remain on the milder side until then. Seems like Gary has been so busy with projects this summer that we did not get much camping in, but there is always neat year.

Amy and I are heading out this weekend. Red Rock Ponds in Holley, NY. Fairly new campground built around the old Medina Red Sandstone quarries. Flush and drain the tanks and water system when we leave.

Hunting season is in swing and my kid wants to go out so I think sat. AM I will put in at my fav spot since its free now, and just take enuf water for the toilet and kitchen duties. Definitely will have to purge the lines - snow and ice coming in NW PA...

We hate to see camping season come to an end, so we try to extend it as much as possible. We still have a few more trips out before winterizing the Sunny. The last few years we still take her out to campgrounds even in the winter...we just use the bath house. I would rather stay in the camper without water than stay in a motel especially since all the news about motels having bed bugs. ( just the thought makes my skin crawl).
Let's just hope the snow and ice stays away a while longer.
