It's official, another graduate

Okay, another SOB if you will. Today we closed a deal on a 30' Rockwood Signature 8280WS 5th wheel. Last week we got an F150 F/X 4 with the 6cyl Eco Boost engine and the max tow package. (11,300#) The dry wt of the 5er is 7k so it's a good fit. We're setting ourselves up for retirement in 4 or 5 years. The T-1950 is perfect for two but not for extended stays as we're planning on being snow birds.

I think we'll spend the winters parked in Royal Caribbean's parking lot in Port Canaveral so we have a place to stay between cruises.

Sounds like a good fit for you. Sounds like you will have it all figured out. Now to get everything ready for that full timing.

Nice floor plan, a lot of folks like the rear kitchens, I have never had one to try it out (if I did have one, Gary might "expect me to cook more"). OK, now some questions: are you getting the white exterior or that grayish/cocoa color ? Are you getting the interior woodwork done in the light color in kitchen, dark in rest of rig, OR woodwork all the same color ? And, "where" are the pictures ??? OH, that's right you have to have it first so that you can take pictures, hahaha.

Good luck with both of your new "toys", and please post photos when you get it.

Rockwood 8280WS 30' 5th wheel
Interesting options: White exterior Kitty, Empty weight is 7300#, Cherry wood all around, small slide is wardrobe, plenty of counter space with additional extention, Ducted heat and air. 43 gal fresh and 76 gal black and gray all enclosed and heated, black tank flush system, exterior winterizing system, 30" Sony TV with 5.1 surround Satellite radio and Bluetooth to cell phone, floor lights, entry stair light, Day/night shades, dining table with chairs, sofa bed with air mattress, 22" oven, water filtration, Serta mattress, power stabilizers, power awning and outside speakers.

F150 F/X 4 Eco Boost Max tow package
The truck has 11,300 tow cap, in dash trailer brakes, auto stabilizer which applies trailer brakes if it senses over sway, telescoping heated mirrors, 120v plug in side and is set up for off road with 4x4 and skid plates. It has the concealed steps for box access, nice for 5th wheel lock. We're having step rails installed before we pick it up. There is an option for back up camera which I don't have but not necessary for 5th wheel. This is set up nicely for a tow vehicle.

I like it, I like it. Colors are really nice. I like the table & chairs, we have that setup. I think Open Range was who came out with the 2 different colors of cabinets in a rig, and it's not my favorite thing. Yours looks like maybe a Hickory color, nice and RICH. Also looks like you don't have a lot of carpet to contend with, boy I'd like that.

Congrats & good luck with your new setup.

Paul,

Have you decided on a fifth wheel hitch? I had the Pullrite Superglide and was quite pleased with it overall. I'm assuming you'll go with some kind of sliding hitch with the short bed you have?

Enjoy the new equipment and let us know how it goes. Quite an amenities upgrade from your Sunline!

Thanks Jeff. I did check outt Pullrite and found good reviews. The hardware on the unit is Reese and the dealer includes a Reese installed with the units price. It is removable leaving only the rails for off season.

Hauling a 5th wheel will be a new experience. I hope the learning curve is short.

Rig looks nice, I have heard good things about the eco boost! Which model reese did you get. I Made my dealer upgrade my hitch, which was the standard pro series reese with the locking bar to the 20k reese with the locking jaws, much quieter and easier. Its a much better hitch, little more money but I will never need another hitch no matter how big I go lol

Congrats on the new truck and camper!!!

So are you keeping the little T1950 for mini excursions or did that get traded in?

Gee, do you now need to upgrade your portable power post to a 50 amp unit?

Oh and heads up now that you are longer.... At Nicks Lake in the loop the M& G is at watch that hard turn at the bottom of the hill past the shower house. I made it through with mine but just barely. Sooner or later the tree that is hanging out on the inside of the turn will no longer be there... It has some battle scares on it now.

Thanks for the heads up John. I did trade the Sunnie and have until the 28th to try to sell it before I settle on the down payment.

The hitch included with the unit id the Reese Revolution.

I didn't think about the power. Actually I only have one AC (ducted) so I'll only need 30 amps. I'll run some calculations and upgrade the post this weekend. That could have been a disaster.
