Unlike Al, I wasn't really waiting.....just had a big curve ball thrown at us.
Last Monday, Dec.15 mdfiregal's mom suffered a major heart attack. We have spent the last week traveling to the Washington Hospital Center in DC (about 30 miles from home and an hour or more travel time with traffic). She was flown (first time in her 81 years
) there from our local hospital when they determined they didn't have the capability to treat her. She had a catheterization done Monday evening, then a quintuple bypass on Tuesday afternoon to address the SIX blockages in her coronary arteries. She is doing well with her heart, but is having some complications with gout that are slowing cardiac rehab (limiting her mobility) and unfortunately she'll still be in the hospital for Christmas. Hopefully she'll be up and running for the meet-n-greet.
We got an early Christmas Present with her succcessful surgery...God Bless the Surgeons and Staff at Washington Hospital.
