Furlough Stinks

mdfiregal and I are both furloughed due to Fed shutdown. It is a real pain to have the time off from work, and we can't afford to do anything!!! Even if we could afford to travel, the kids are in school anyway.

Been there and done that. I worked for the Dept of the Interior for 35 years and have been in your spot many times. It got so bad one time that we had to sign up for unemployment and received one check than had to give it back to the Government as we received back pay. Congress has gotten worse instead of better.

If the President can only serve 2 terms why can congress make it a life time job and a poor job at that.

Yes it does stink. It is sad to see so many good people are being hurt by this through no fault of their own. Hope you both can make it through this ok Mack.

OOOOO so right. They should get merit raises not vote themselves raises.

Sadly, it's all political leveraging - and we're the pawns. I would love to see some ethics, common sense, and responsibility in government.

(I can dream, can't I?)

Hang in there, Mack. This game will be over and everything will be like it was before you know it - back to their usual games.

I agree President, state Governors 8 years that's it do the best you can then leave gracefully. I guess the biggest problem is they are all lawyers and get to write the laws.

Well, even though the Government is still shutdown, I have been called back as a DOD civilian. The wife is still furloughed but we expect her to be called back tomorrow (she's a DoD contractor). Thanks for all the well wishes, and I hope they get their act together and everybody can get back to work.

Fortunately, at my level those ideals are pretty common!! But, I would love to fire all 637 of those at the highest levels that are lacking all the above.
