Food for Thought

An old friend and I were chatting the other day, and the subject of his uncanny success with getting landowners' permission to use their property for fishing, camping and canoeing came up.

He told me he uses a salesman's old trick: keep them talking. If they say "no", just keep the conversation going on any topic of the landowner's interest - how long has the land been in the family, resources it provides, etc. Then steer the conversation back to permission. He said not to be discouraged; they can say "no" a hundred times and it won't matter. They only have to say "yes" once.

Think about it,
