After we got a late start due to a power outage at work Thursday, we finally got out early Saturday morning. Fairly uneventful trip to Wilderness Presidential Resorts in Spotsylvania, VA.
We were in and set up by 9am and realized very quickly, even though we knew it was going to be a hot & humid weekend, that it was going to be VERY HOT & VERY HUMID!!! The kids went off exploring the craft shack and gym, mom & dad kinda chilled (dad actually caught a nap since he was up to midnight getting everything ready!!!) Lots of activities for all ages.
Went swimming Saturday evening and realized very quickly that it was first day the outdoor pools were open and that they had just been freshly filled with well water!!!! Yikes, were they COLD!!
Sunday was a fun day, especially when the kids decorated their bikes and participated in the campground Memorial Day parade, except that evening when a threat of storms sent us scrambling to secure awnings, etc. The storms passed over us and kicked butt about ten miles east of us and beyond.
After getting a chance to explore a bit, I was surprised how many Sunlines were there. Most of them are on permanent sites and quite a few were in sad states of disrepair. But, there were probably more than a dozen. The was one that has been in place so long that you would have to cut down several 8"-10" trees that have grown right along the bumper and a-frame to remove the trailer!!!
Headed home Monday afternoon, and the A/C fan in the TV decided to pretty much quit. So, this is what mdfiregal ended up with under her feet:
That's our English Bullie, Dudley, rolled over on his back, trying to suck up what little cool air that was coming out of the floor vent.
Overall, a good trip!!
