First Campout of the Year. YEH!

Anyone go camping last weekend?

The weather broke and we made it out. It hit 45 on Saturday. WOW. What a great day. Sunday AM was OK and by Sunday night winter was back. This AM we woke up to snow and cold, burrrrr

But we have reset the camping fever clock once again. If you can make it out, go for it. We where again one of three in an entire 230 campsite state park….

Here are some pic’s. Yes we did cheat, you can see the heated shower house in the back ground. Check out that blue sky. Great!!!

And the slide side

And now the best part, cooking dinner outside.
The “better half” chopping.

The “other half” cook’en it up. Cast Iron is my best friend on a campout. (As long as I don’t have to back pack it…)

Hope you enjoyed the campout. I know we did.

Hope you get out soon too and post back.

John

Glad to see you could beat ol' Mother Nature and sneak out in early January.

One trick we saw a few weekends back while camping up in Sedona with the night time temps dropping down below freezing, was a fellow camper covered his hose in the pipe tubing you put on your copper pipes in the basement so they dont sweat in the summer. He then plugged in pipe tape that you wrap around them and plugged it into the plug on the box.

It'll only work if you're staying in a full service campground that includes power, but we had to unhook our hoses each night, and he kept his hooked up and said they never froze. So for those of you trying to beat the weather, it's a way to stay out camping.

And how cool is that having the entire campground to yourselves? Another reason why Cindy and I love camping out of season.

Pat
