Enjoying our Sunline

Just wondering how much time everybody spends in there Sunline? So far, after geting our T1850 in Feburary, we've spent 18 days an traveled about 2000 miles. Thanks to all the information on this site I've be able to take care of the few problems that have poped up. Looking foward to a long relationship with our T1850.

We got ours during the winter. Could not use it until May here in Vermont. I do not count the miles, but we went to the Buttonwood PA meet and greet, stopping at the Finger Lakes and then Cooperstown on way out and back. Also have been out three weekends or long weekends closer to home so far. Old Forge meet and greet in the Adirondacks is coming up and we will spend a weekend before that at a local state park. My husband Tom still works 50+ hrs. a week so we really are doing well to go out so much. We've also used it a lot at home for grandkids and our own use as it has AC and the house does not ! Sometimes if it is rainy, cool or buggy, we sit out in the Sunline in the evening and have a drink and visit. So.. we are getting a lot of use out of the Sunny !!

We go all year round. Granted during the winter months we may only get out once a month due to rain or worse, snow.... Cold is not a problem, but snow is.

We do a lot of short weekend trips using on board tanks. Full hook ups are a luxury to us mainly as they are not that plentiful in the State Parks we camp at. We also do the long annual 18 day road trip that is in the 1,600 mile range for the last 4 years.

We average between 45 to 50 nights a year and have since 2004. As far as mileage, I have not totaled it in the last year yet however we did cross the 50K mile mark sometime this year. Again most being weekend warriors.... We are not long haulers (yet) as some folks who are retired, however that will change in the hopeful not to distance future. Then we will take longer trips, both the entire main land US and parts of Canada.

Still not enough camping as work seems to get in the way.... But every time out is great!

If you have not started a camping log, with miles, camp site/camp ground, nights etc, now is the time to start. It gets hard to remember all the places and sites number years later. I use the miles to track the truck for towing and the camper for maintenance miles.

Any kind of camping is good.

John

My guesstimate is that we spend...10 days near the kids during the summer, 2 weeks somewhere south at Christmas, another week somewhere else in the fall, and average 5 3 day weekends. Sounds like about 40 days/year. I can tell you it's not enough!

Here is something easy that I have done. Each time I make a reservation, I print out the campground map and info, punch it and put in a three ring binder. So, at the end of the season, I can flip through and total up the miles we've been. I mark the site we had and any useful info like generator hours. If we love the place, we also cruise the campground and pick out our ideal site and reserve for next year. Our Vermont State parks let you reserve 11 months in advance so I get right on it the first day and choose our spot !

For 3 yrs now wife & I have spent 6 continuous months, late Oct thru late April, in our trailer, The last 2 have been in our T-1950. Plan to do the same this winter. We formerly spent many weeks in FL but have spent last 3 winters in SW. The boondocking opportunities there are limitless.
During the warmer 6 months of yr while home in far northern NY we make a few short trips into the nearby Adirondacks but have ventured farther on occasion
Would heartily 2nd the motion of keeping a trailer log. Reviewing it will bring back pleasant memories of your outings & settle any questions such as "Boo Boo, when was it we last visited jellystone park ?"

I'm at 54 nights year-to-date and am gonna try like heck to break 70 this year. It gets hard in the fall though with kids in school and all that goes along with that, we are relegated to short weekend trips only.

We bought our Sunline in Jan of 09 with the intention of using it in the summer at State Parks with our grandchildren and then using it in the winter when we go to warmer weather. We have done both.

We have used the camper 135 nights (average of 34 times a year) and have pulled it 13654 miles. We are heading out shortly for a couple weeks to MN so we aren't done for 2012 yet. My DW is into scrapbooking and she has a picture of every campsite that we have ever stayed in with dates and etc. Two months is the longest that we have stayed in it at one time. It is a great trailer and we really like the floor plan.

Trying to coordinate around the kids schedules is getting harder for us.

In 2011 we spent about 40 days in the camper, and did our longest trip yet, from PA to Williamsburg VA.

2012 isn't looking as good, hoping to hit 30 days with some late fall trips (if the weather permits)

These days, I'm lucky to get two nights a year, three if I'm really lucky

Thus far, I'm think I'm at a grand total of 20 nights in it since buying it new in May 2008.

Thanks for the replies. The DW has started a notebook. I work 24/48 so with a shift swap or a vacation day makes it easy to slip away for a weekend. Our three boys are old enough to take care of themselves. Love the Sunline and trying to visit our South Carolina State Parks. Our favorite is Santee State Park Close enough to home but a good place to disapear. We have a trip planed to Table Rock State Park in late October. The great thing about living in the south the winters are mild, so camping all year is possible.
