Duo Therm Air Conditione

Hello All...
Question on a 1992 Duo Therm Brisk Air Conditioner 1993.

Did the original cover have a rear grill over the condenser? Mine does not and I cannot tell if the new replacement covers do have one.

Picture shows no cover and our progress with straightening the condenser fins.

Yeah I believe it was part of the over all cover but I don't think all of them did have covers for the condensor. Try an auto parts store there is actually a thing called a fin comb.

Hi Mainah,

I think that you are right... some air conditioner covers did not have a condenser cover (like mine). We did purchase, and try, several fin combs... none of which worked. The fins are just too layed over. Patience with straightening each fin has been our only success.

I kind of think they had a screen like thing over the condenser but nothing in the back.

All the ones I've ever had on my older trailers were open in the back like that.

Somewhere along the way, Dometic changed the covers to have a slotted cover or the back coil that looked just about like the slots on the sides. I do not know what year, but the older ones were wide open. By at least 2003 they had slotted back covers. May have been a little earlier just I know by 2003 and newer they were slotted.

It seems the slotted ones help protect the fins better. I have seen several of the older ones with mega flattened fins. And it was not small dents but large areas of flattened fins.

How they exactly got that way I really do not know. And your right, that may have to be 1 fin at a time. Pain staking I'm sure.

I think you're spot on. Looks like 2002 was still open in the back:

Well, I proved myself partly wrong yesterday. The switch is more like 2003 to 2004 time frame. You could have either.

My 2004 T1950 AC unit is off the camper staring me in the face when I walked in the barn. On that 2004 model manufactured in Oct 2003, the back is all open and the opening goes down into the metal pan area. Our 2004 T310SR born in Nov 2003, had an open back on the original but a closed back when I bought a replacement shroud. The T310 original cover

I checked the 2004 T2475 manufactured in April 2004 and it has a slotted cover.

See here on the T2475

So some time period between 03 to 04 it seems they changed to slotted back cover. 2004 Sunline can have a mixture of covers. By 2005 models they should of all had the slotted covers.
