Diesel Prices

Isn't it sad to get a bit excited when you see diesel for $3.919 ?

That's todays price at the Flying J, RT 81, Winchester (Clearbrook), VA.

Maybe next time I need fuel, it will be down a bit more (I currently have a full tank, and no Sunny )

Hey...we are excited here in PA at $4.11. Is there diesel at that Flying J at the pumps in front of the quick shop?
Did you get to go camping Labor Day weekend? I thought there was a chance your Mom would be up to it, and Sunny was back temporarily.

I was happy to see $3.99 at our local spot market, cash only place. One Shell had it @ $4.04. Average right now is about $4.20.

Hi Pam,

Yes there is diesel right at the front of the Fly J store, you can fill up at the center pumps of the auto island, or at the RV island. When towing, it is easier to use the rv island, but they are BOTH at the front of the store.

I did get Sunny back so I could use him for Labor day, just to Brunswick Family Campground, things were ok with mom until around 10pm sunday night when she sorta flipped out on me, which of course caused me to get upset.

Currently, I have not made plans for thanksgiving, unless I can arrange a place for mom to stay as she is not up to handling any more trips mentally in my opinion.

Kitty,
Thanks for the info on the Flying J. The first time we went there with the Tweety attached we pulled into the truck area, because there were some fifth wheels pulling out of that area, and no campers in the front area. The truck lines were SO long that it ended up taking us forever to fuel up. Then the truck behind us was POed when Steve went in to pay. I didn't know he was annoyed until the NICE trucker next to me gave me a little signal that I should pull forward We usually make it to Whites, which is a little more expensive but not so crowded. Now I know...pull in front!!!
I'm sorry to hear that camping with your Mom didn't go so well At least you weren't far from home. She seemed to do very well at the Sunline M&G. But it had been a long time since you've been camping...sigh

As you may have heard, hear in the SE, we have been experiencing a bit of a fuel shortage. What has been interesting is that diesel seems to be available at most stations.

What is really strange is that some places have diesel at the same price as reg unld. Others still have it 50 to 70 cents higher. I don't understand the price swing, but am sure the diesel guys are loving it - relatively speaking.

Later,

Yeah, here in Charlotte there's been a huge fuel shortage, and yesterday morning I heard one in five stations actually had gas. I believe it! The ones we passed that had it had very long lines.

Even though my grandparents were told to fill up before getting into the Charlotte area, they didn't, and they stopped just as they got off the highway. The station they stopped at only allowed them to get five gallons.

Last night I was told all the stations were supposed to get replenished, but I've yet to go out this morning to see.

WOOHOO, well a comparitively speaking WOOHOO . I filled the hungry beast at our local Sheetz last night for $3.49 a gallon. I don't usually patronize the big business fuel companies in our area, but the sign out front said $3.75, and where I normally fill (a local family owned business)was $3.99. I was then suprised when the pump said $3.49.

P.S. Gas in Carlisle is down to $2.89.

Steve,
The Hess station at the corner of 641 and 74 (near where the old Giant Store, and the Old Carlisle Mall was) is continually the cheapest in the area. They match or beat the Flying J and the Petro out on the "Pike". Bring some 55 galon drums.

We're staying right across the street from the Flying J and all of our time will be either at the hotel or up north in New Bloomfield.

Thanks for the tip!

Gas under $3.00! I must say I never expected to see that. Of course here in the Atlanta area we are still close to $3.50. I would like to see it much closer to $2.00.
