Dealer called..Our new Sunline is in!

Yes indeed that was a call we were waiting for since the day we ordered it. He said Tuesday it will be ready for us to pick up. However he invited us down for a look-see today. Of course we went! We had seen photos in the catalog of the fiberglass sided model, and we were convinced that was what we wanted, but after seeing it in person we are now exceptionally glad we ordered it that way. It's a humdinger according to my wife. They sales manager opened it up, and said take a good look, and then he left us to ourselves so we could gab together without the extra ears following us around. We explored every nook and cranny and could fine absolutely nothing wrong as far as fit and finish and completeness to our option list. That was satisfying in itself. Of course Tuesday we will get the official PDI, but we already can sense the worth of buying such a quality product as this new Sunline obviously is. Well worth the wait. Chapter two of this story after we get her home.

It's like Christmas in October, right? I'd congratulate on your PDI if I only knew what a PDI was.

Get it dirty right away.

PDI= Pre-Delivery-Inspection. That time when the dealer shows us through all the functions and we determine all is okay or the problems get documented for repair either right then or darn soon. Since we already looked it over completely for fit and finish issues we are hopefull they will have the mechanical stuff on parr when we get it Tuesday. Anythings possible of course but since the dealer will be checking it all out ahead of time I'd say our chances are good for a successful inspection. I'm actually more concerned about the towing experience since my last camper was a Class "A". I'm getting the Reese 1200lb setup with the Dual Cam sway control and they claim they are proficient at the install so I'll be keeping my fingers crossed. Stay tuned!

Hey Bob,
I'm so glad to hear that you got "THAT" call. I know how hard the waiting is. Did you notice that so far your replies are all from 2499 owners? I am sure you will truly enjoy your Sunline. Hopefully, you'll get to use it before you have to winterize, even if just at "Camp La Driveway". My next trip is probably not til Thanksgiving, then off to Pigeon Forge. Then Sunny will get some rest until April.
Your dealer is setting you up with the same hitch-set up as mine did for me, even thought he said I could go without (since I have the F-350 PSD), I told him I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Heres wishing you a trouble-free PDI and a very safe and enjoyable trip home with your new baby.

Oh thank you each and everyone of you for the wishes of happy camping Sunline 2499 style. It's Monday morning as I type this reply, and the next 26 hours or so cannot go by fast enough. So many things to keep track of with this new configuration. Making sure I get my brake controller set correctly, remember to get those trailer mirrors pulled out and adjusted, Gotta put 80lbs of air in my truck tires...oh yeah, need to stop and get that bank check too. Plus remember to bring the camera along for some in process pictures...my head is spinning...back soon..

Christmas in October and my big brother beat me to the Christmas Presents!!!! Our T-276 SR is due to be completed this week also. Congrats on your new trailer. Can't wait to get ours!! Maybe then I clear out the pile of "stuff" in the living room that the brother-in-law (Big Cedar Creek fiver with a Volvo tractor to pull it) told my wife we had to have.

Bob: Consider yourself lucky.....My wife was just informed by LaRue that the factory is shutting down "for a week or two" and our trailer is NOT finished yet!! Don't know when we will take delivery, if at all. We might consider cancelling the order, if they can't say when it will be delivered. So much for Christmas in October!!!

GoodoleBob: We were told because it was slow....

Rich2500: I don't think they would lay-off everyone if they were doing clean-up and inventory. That takes people!!

We were also told up to last Monday that the trailer would be done this week, so I'm surprised that they wouldn't have known about a routine shutdown.

Anyhow, we'll see what happens on Monday, the 26th. See the other thread I started for where we stand now..........Like I said don't want to rain on Goodolebob's parade. Hope everything went alright with the delivery!!

you sure it's a layoff and not shutdown,I would be willing to bet that it's a shutdown, they actually do that more then once a year, production is stopped,I find it hard to believe they would lay everyone off with trailers on order to be made.we went through the same thing when we ordered ours in june,it was promised to us by the week of the 4th of july and long behold they had a routine shutdown and we did not get our camper till after the 4th of july.we even went as far as driving by the plant to see if our dealer was telling the truth and they apperently were because there was only a few cars sitting there.the dealers don't know exactly when shutdown is gonna be.atleast thats what our dealer told us and they are 5 mins. from the plant.

Congrats on the new trailer. I am glad to here that it was worth the wait. So do you have any pictures of the new rig that you can post. I wonder if your rig is the one I saw while on the factory tour. Although I don't remember much about it, it was a 2499 and the only one with the fiberglass sides.

I'm going to try to post a photo. We stopped at a highway rest area on the way home and took some shots of the whole rig. It was raining but still had to commemorate the occasion. So look there and see if I was successful.

Well I tried to post a photo but it didn't happen I guess. I read something about it needing approval. Anybody know?

Bob,

I saw a picture of your new trailer from the RV.net website. I am now sure it was your trailer being built when I was at the factory tour at the end of September. The graphics look exactly the same and it was the only one the were building with the fibreglass sides. All of the other trailers at the plant were having the aluminum sides placed on them. I am sorry now that I didn't pay closer attention to the trailer so that I could pass on what I saw to you.

Hello Trailblazer,
Well that is very interesting to hear. I took delivery on the 17th of October so that would have put it on the production floor when you took your tour, and you actually saw it?? Wow what a treat that would have been for me. It must have been at a fairly complete stage if the siding and grahics were already on. I do appreciate hearing of this chance occurance. If something pops back into your recollection of it let me know please. Thank you!

Bob
