Cleaning Awning/Covering Camper

First, let me say thanks to all the long time owners for hanging around this site and offering advice to us new Sunline owners! Thanks!

Just got back from pulling my coach 6,500 miles without a hitch. Well, without any problems is probably more accurate. I did have a problem with the Equalizer hitch itself. One of the steel straps on the trailer, which is where sway bar rests on the camper, sheered off. Fortunately, I was just a couple of miles from Jack's Campers in Mitchell, SD. The man there was SO helpful. Gave me a used one. Not sure why that happened, but check the thing frequently now.

Could someone please advise me what to use to clean the awning. That thing is dirty! Cleaned the camper today. Cleaned-up pretty! Used that Tetford stuff for black streaks and bugs.

All that cleaning made me think about covering the camper this winter. I couldn't cover my last camper because it was aluminum and had clear coat on it. Should I cover it? I bet it is a lot of fun trying to get a cover over a camper (NOT)!

Thanks all!

Hello Paul
Here is a mixture from the Awning manufacturer brochure that came with our Sunline book. In 5 gallons of water use 1/4 cup dish soap and 1/4 cup of bleach. Wash the awning then roll it up to soak for 5 minutes while you apply the mixture to the bottom of the awning. Next open the awning and hose it off with fresh water top and bottom. Repeat if necessary. When we came back from our trip out west I just used dish soap in a pail of water and a car wash brush along with elbow grease that I found with in my own elbow
The awning looks great. Hope this helps
Ted

Thanks folks! I would not have thought of rolling it up. What a great idea!
I was wondering how I was going to scrub the underside without getting drenched!
