Any recomendations for Lancaster, Pa
We are looking to head out to Lancaster in June, and wonder if there are any favorite campgrounds from any members?
Last year we stayed at Eagles Peak. We liked the campground, but we are looking for other choices.
We do plan on hitting the Green Dragon Farmers Market, so anything around that area would be great.
Thanks,
Phil

Old Mill Stream is our favorite. It's right next to Dutch Wonderland and convienient to all things Lancaster.
The Bird-in-Hand Farmer's Market and the Bakery across the street are some of our places to go.
We also liked White Oak near Quarryville, but the sites can be tight for anything over 24' or with a slide.
See the Mid-Eastern Campground reviews....lots of Lancaster.

this http://www.starlitecampingresort.com/would be my recommendation, only about 10-15 mins from green dragon and if you can get a site on the upper section you have a beautiful view out over lancaster county at night.

How much entertainment do you need within the campground? Will you kids along?

Any entertainment is a plus. But, being in Lancaster County, we will not run out of things to do and see, outside the campground.
My son will be bringing his daughter, and maybe one of her friends. They are early teenagers.
Some good suggestions so far, I will check them out.
I already made reservations for Aug 14 - 16, and Labor Day weekend, at Pine Grove KOA. My brother tells me this is a pretty good CG. But I checked, and the Green Dragon is about 1 hour from there, so I still need to make something closer.
And I still have a site for Mothers Day weekend at Appalachian. That is if it opens.
Thanks for the help,
Phil

I would probably stay at Spring Gulch. It gets booked up fast and you'll need reservations. They are a resort and will have alot for the kids to do. It's between Green Dragon and Lancaster, so a nice location to do both.

Lancaster camping
We like to stay at Roamers Retreat it is located on rte# 30 just outside Lancaster. It is am short drive to the Green Dragon or Roots farmers market. Camp is kept very clean. Full hookups and cable TV, We have been going ther since about 1984.

Lake In Wood is a great and fairly large campground in Dutch Country. Lots of amenties and activities! Hard to get reservations on the major holiday weekends, but that seems par for the course.

This looks like a great place. I am sure we will be checking this one out, and the others mentioned.
My brother said that Hickory Run, (not the State Park), is close to the Green Dragon, so I booked a weekend there.
Thanks for the information,
Phil
