A Nice Vacation

I'm having a very nice spring vacation doing some mods to the camper and such things. So far I've taken the tv shelf down in the bedroom, added a board to the wall and mounted a swivel tv bracket and a 22 inch tv. Looks really nice and now i'm not hitting my back going around the bed. Slung a 5 inch pvc pipe between the fresh water and black water tank, can fit all the slinkies and fittings in it. Put a battery disconnect on the tongue, hinged the 30 lb tank cover so I don't have to take it off to turn the propane on and off.
I took the truck and camper to Plattsburgh for the camper inspection this morning. While I was there I asked them to tell me which vent cover I needed for the one in the bathroom, they were nice enough to change it out for me ( at a dealer no less and a Maxx Air cover on it).
I took the truck and camper over, gassed it up and went to the local scales. Gross wt. of truck and camper- 11,000 lbs, Truck alone- 5780 lbs, Camper alone- 5,320 lbs. Tongue wt done with a Shureline- 850 lbs. I thought this was going to be a fairly heavy camper, But it surprised me.

That is pretty light TW for a 2499, but be very happy about that! Glad to hear your vacation is going well.

H'mm only 5,320# and a 850# TW? Are you fully loaded with camping gear and food? The front cargo hole and bedroom under the bed and cabinets must not have much in them.

If your are fully loaded, right now you are lightly loaded. That is not a bad thing.

Also if and when you haul fresh water in the tank to camp, if you ever do, the tongue weight will go up. About 180# to 200# worth of tongue weight if I remember right. The tank is about 1/2 way between the axles and the tow ball so part of it splits to both.

Glad things are going well.

John

Chuck,

Good for you!! Right now you are a "light" weight camper.

When we moved from the PU to the T2499, after moving all the stuff over from the PU and we said, wow look at all this extra space.

Then time passed and soon I ended up with a 1,200# loaded tongue weight not realizing it ..... I actually used 3 methods back them to confirm I was actually seeing this right..... So in time "stuff" accumulated.

Then time passed and we bought the T310SR which is the same floor plan just all grown up.... Moved all the stuff from the T2499 into the T310, less a few things we never used but seemed to accumulate. We only partially packed the camper in the beginning as we had a smaller TV then that could only handle a 1,200# tongue weight. The T310 started at a 950# dry tongue. As time passed and the new truck came, so did the rest of the "stuff" and them some.... Now we have a 1,400# TW....

The moral to this story, "time". It seems in "time" things accumulate....

Let talk on this a year from now....

Happy camping

John
