A/C Question

Not sure where to place this, but here goes;

This is our fiirst experience with a roof mounted Air conditioner. It is a Duo Therm. This was not our first time camping and using the A/C, but the heat this past weekend was unforgivable!!! After the A/C had been on for a while, we noticed a steady stream of water down the side of the Que. We traced it it the A/C, and figured it was just condensation (but, it was a lot of water!) We did not notice it last time we used the A/C. Is this just condensation? Is it normal?

I would hate to be one of those people who runs to the dealer for every little non-problem!
thanks!

We haven't used our QUE a/c yet except to test it. However, we had a/c on our popup and the amount of water it emits on a very hot day is amazing.

Your A/C does two things. First, it cools the air in the trailer. Second, it removes moisture from the air in your trailer. That moisture has to go somewhere, and in TT's, it is the norm for the roof mounted A/C to just drip that moisture onto the roof and let it run off like rain.

In hot, muggy weather it is not uncommon for the A/C to pull several gallons of water out of the trailer in the first 24 hours of operation. After that, it slows down unless there are lots of people in the trailer for long periods of time. All that exhaled moisture from our bodies has to go somewhere. If there's no one in the TT, the moisture removed will drop dramatically after the first day.

To add to what Steve just said............taking showers, cooking, microwave, etc also places tons of water into the air. M&S

We noticed that once the A/C shuts off, the water comes pouring out like a faucet is on!! If you're experiencing hot, humid weather, the water will be flowing anytime the A/C is running.

No need to worry

Kathryn,

Can’t add anything more that what others have already said.

It’s normal and you have nothing to worry about, sounds like everything is working just fine.
