Just arrived back home after running errands this evening and saw the PM posts from both Joan and Jon.

Joan, I'm sure the folks on this list will chime in regarding the floor situation. You could certainly call Leo's and ask specifically about the floor situation and ask if you could contact the owner for additional information. We can certainly understand your reluctance to take on a camper with a potential issue.

Jon, we will try to get the VIN for you. If we call the salesman we bought our NT from, he should be able to give us that information.

Pam, it should be listed in the 2004 brochure, but in case it isn't, here's the floorplan and specs.

Thank you! I will call tomorrow. I would like to know if at all possible what caused the damage, how extensive it was and who repaired it. Otherwise.....its back to the T-1950! And I have the VIN for it. I can give it to Jon also.

Hmmmm

Just about ready to turn off the laptop when I decided to bookmark Leo's and I happened to notice the reviews... Not very flattering

Although Bill seemed to fare well.....I am getting the picture that RV salespeople are like used car salesman!

Hi Joan

That T2199 sure looks like a real nice camper from the pics. But pics alone do not sell it.

The price. Man the prices can be all over the place and $2K may just be the dealer wants to move it. It is so hard to tell sometimes. Some dealerships may try and hang out on the T1950 as it is a popular selling model.

I know we drove 500 miles 1 way to get our T310SR. It too was a long distance deal. The dealer was hungry enough then to clear out the lot of their used inventory. He worked enough with me to keep emailing me extra pics. And they dropped the price a lot from their, blow out pricing, they where already advertising.

The deal we had since it was so far away, was we where going to take it on the spot or not once we drove over. Well we walked in and it said WOW.... and that was it. The next day we towed it back home.

The dealer may be trying to move the T2199.

One heads up, have someone if you can look at all the roof seams for cracks or any signs of water entry. Being it is a 2004, it can be no problem or if the prior owner did nothing for yearly maintenance then it is old enough that it "might" have a few questionable spots. If they kept after the caulk or stored indoors then no problem. Do this on any used TT.

Good luck. Both are great campers.

John

Thanks for the floorplan Jon. When I checked the brochure it was chopped off in both years they made that model. Things I was curious about in comparison to the 1950 -
the bed is indeed a queen in the 2199, and there are 2 wardrobes (1 for each person), and the nice pantry is there too. Very nice

One of our friends decided to purchase a small class C for herself and her dogs for traveling. Our best advice to her was to beware of the salesman who tells you "Yes, you can pull that 13,000 trailer with a Volkswagon Beetle."

Seriously we have met some very poor sales staff and some very good ones. Regarding Leo's, we've not had a bad experience there with servicing our former Sunline and with trading it and purchasing the North Trail. Leo's has also won service awards but you need to connect with the people yourself and gauge your personal response to them.

Good luck with your decision!!

Question 2199 Only Made One Year?

Looking at the Brochure I could only find the 2199 listed in the 2004 Brochure as "available Fall of 2003" and nothing in the 2005. Does anyone know if they only made the 2199 for one year?

Well those claims are all to common!

I called Leo's today and asked for Bill however he wasn't working. So I left a message but will call back tomorrow.

I went back and forth with the Class C vs the TT but in the end I didn't want to have to have a toad, liked the idea of some extra storage in the truck too. And in the end a TT just seems like an American RVing classic

Thanks

Hopefully Bill will call you back...if he dosen't call him again.....sometimes sales people DO NOT pass on phone messages to the proper parties ....makes them look bad by not returning a call ....and please report back what you find out!

I did call because I didn't trust the message would be passed along.

I asked him to contact the owners to find out what caused the floor problem and who repaired it. He said it happened several years ago and that it was fine know and you could not tell. Hmmmmm

I asked if it was a trade in (some are bought at auction) and he said yes the previous owners bought a much bigger rig.

I also asked him to check to see how old the tires where (he said they "looked new") and to check on a owners manual. I asked if there was any invoices, receipts left by the owners. He said no

He acted like he didn't know how to check how old the tires are until I brought up that the info was found on the tire and he also seemed a little testy and said "We won't replace them if they pass inspection" I said I understand but I want to know if I have to replace them. That's $400-500 right off the bat!

Asked if there any other options as I was hoping for a black rinse kit however the only other options, besides the Fiberglass is an electric tongue

So he is going to 1. check with owners, 2. check the tires 3. owners manual

I also got the VIN# I will pass along to Jon

The tires, good research on your part. The 5-year guide that RV users go by is a good one. This is not law and he is right if the thread were deep enough they would not be required to change the tires. That does not mean it is right, just it is the system the way it is at this point in time.

The good news is the state they are in requires a road worthy inspection. In addition, if they do it properly and issue a sticker you have a level of comfort the system has been checked. States like Ohio have no mandatory inspection process. They use field checkpoints and if they find you with an out of spec unit, you get a ticket.

Receipts, if the actual Sunline binder (manual) is intact then you have fair odds the original coach invoice is in it. The year of this coach Sunline included them in the manual. However, they are at times removed like done when I bought my used 2004 T310SR. However, my 2004 T2499 had it. You may be lucky if they have the actual binder.

The black rinser kit and the power tongue jack can be added after. They are common after market upgrades. It would be nice if it came with them but should not be a showstopper.

Good luck

John

You got the actual invoice to the dealer with prices? There was another sheet that was similar to a window sticker that showed the standards and options with the VIN, but then there was another sheet that was actually an invoice to the dealer that listed the model, all options, the dealer's bank, etc. I don't believe this was included in the past because it would have revealed the dealer cost of the coach. Maybe it did happen with some dealers though? I know General didn't let much go with them at all, geez I feel I was lucky enough to get the appliance manuals. Fortunately when I got the '07, AllAm threw in everything.

Hi Kitty,

I'm glad you asked that because based all on memory, I was thinking the window sticker thing had no prices at all. Indeed looking at it, it has retail prices. Your book from the 2499 did have this window sticker, but not the invoice.

I've attached a copy of what mine looks like. It looks just like a parts receipt if you bought parts at Sunline.

Yeah I would replace tires after 5 years. The 2199 DOES have the electric tongue. The T-1950 in Michigan had the owners manual (binder) with all the paperwork and appliance manuals etc.
