1986 sunline trailer

My water heater has no propane flow. Is there a shut off valve somewhere? Thanks in advance.

JDByrider1,

Unless a previous owner did sometime, no there is no shut off valve to the water heater per say. The valve at the tanks want to be opened slowly. Light your range top burner. Turn the HW control knob to pilot. Using a propane grill type lighter light pilot light. If it does not light...and it may not as it can take time for the line to purge. That is why I had you light the range top burner to verify flow...at least to that appliance.

If the pilot doesn't light I will move the blue knob to "on"... a counter clockwise turn and listen careful for flow. Go back to pilot and again attempt lighting the pilot light.

The HWH can be a bit frustrating to light. It is way downstream from the tanks.

I have had fun (not) lighting my furnace. That one is the thing that drives me crazy.

Others can give you other approaches. Also, my directions are for a trailer (esp. in your and my era) that has sat for a period of time but it's appliances are operational, just have a mind of their own.

Thanks for the advice

I will try it out this weekend. That sounds correct. I do have flow to the stove and oven. I'll keep you up to date. Thanks again, Joe

If your new to these old trailers you need to have patience. I have had my furnace fight me to the point that I was going to just double up on clothes and blankets; however, once it kicks in it does make for a toasty and comfortable night.

The other thing I have against the furnace is that I have to get down real low or lay on the floor to see the igniter spark, and at my age with my back, it isn't fun.

This thing needs a lot of work. The awning is totally off. Brackets and all. The water pump and hoses are all disconnected. Gonna need lot's of work but I'm willing to bring it back to life. It's still very solid and for next season will be as good as new. "I hope"....Hahahha.

Try this link. To get to it and others that may help is to click on the file tab at top of page. Then scroll to...in this case, "brochures" and click on it. find you year and click on it. Open PDF file. info on that years' trailers. Note some years will have more then one brochure. They will most likely narrow to certain models.

If yours is an all gas unit, no electric, here is 6 gallon all gas unit

http://www.amazon.com/Atwood-94186-G...r+heater+parts

Same one cheaper
Atwood LP Gas Water Heaters

And here, even cheaper, + $9.99 freight
Atwood Water Heater at a great price - PPL Motor Homes

Make sure these match what is in yours.

Hope this helps

John

Don't know if you will find and actual diagram specific to your camper.

I do not know if the older units changed a whole lot from the newer units as far as how the water system was piped in concept. We can help fill in what the concepts are and then you go look how your specific floor plan accomplishes that.

Which specific area do you need help with? And is this the drain water or fresh water? Assuming fresh water but don't know.

John

It looks like someone disconnected pretty much the entire pipe system around the water pump and water heater. This is probably going to be a job for a pro.

If you are handy with tubing and fittings, we can help sort out how to hook it back up. Take pics and post of the mess and we can help sort it out if this helps any

Good luck

Can anyone tell me if the water pump needs to have water going through it before it turns on? I took it out and tested it on my battery and it worked fine. I then tested the lines in the camper with light tester and did not get any juice. The pump was not attached to the poss and neg when I tested for juice. ,
