Removing vinyl decals from 1982 Sunline Camper

Hello! We just bought a 1982 Sunline 14.5' camper and want to remove the cracked vinyl decals from the exterior. I want to make sure we do not do any necessary damage, so I thought I'd ask here first for tips and advice! Thanks!

Hi! Use a heat gun or blow dryer ( being careful not to scorch the paint, and a plastic putty knife to remove the old one. DO NOT USE goof off or any type of adhesive remover to get it off or you’ll take off the paint.

"Magic Eraser", it is a soft rubber wheel run by an electric drill it really does work. Same issue with my 1990 cracked and flaky decals. I didn't care about replacing the decals just painted new lines.

Remove vinyl decals

You can use a cheap heat gun from Harbor Freight. Just don't hold the heat on any given spot for much longer than a couple of seconds and "pull" as much of the heated, pliable, vinyl away from the painted aluminum surface as you can all in one pull. If the decal separates, then just take it off in pieces. You will find out the proper "timing" for heating / pulling when you start. Clean with alcohol before sticking the new decal back on.
