Question about the login in.
I fill out my user name and password and click the “remember me” button. Yet every time I come back to the site I have to re-fill everything all over again.
Is this a setting in my profile not right or my computer wiping out the data?
As info, The older software and my account and computer did hold my user name/password info and as soon as I started typing the first letter, it filled in everything else and I just hit login in.
Is this a problem with my setup or a bug still being fixed?
Also my smiley icons are still all X’s in the pic list. But they do post if I can figure out what the smiley is.
Thanks
John

The smilies are a forum issue (still working on this) but the need to log in each time you revisit the site is most likely related to your system settings.
This sounds like a cookie handling issue. Our site exchanges little bits of data called cookies with your computer to keep you logged in at page changes. Many virus protection programs or your computers own safety settings (if set very high) may be deleting these cookies when you navigate away from a page and then you get logged off. You can try the following things:
1. Set your system security settings to medium.
2. Be sure that you have enabled cookie handling.
3. Check you Virus protection software (especially Macaffee users) and be sure that cookie handling is not being blocked there - you can specifically allow cookie exchange with the forums.

I have only had to log in to this new forum once and it remembers me when I return without having to log in again, the same as the old version.
Do you have cookies enabled? .... oops, I see Janet already answered as I was posting this.

Boy I'm off line for a few days and look what happens....a whole new site......I have to reread some instructions and see where we go from there.
? with the older software, if I logged in and did not get a chance to read all the posts and logged out....all new posts would disappear (as if I had read them) will that happen with this software?

We migrated to a new platform to add new tools and also as a security precaution. Not too long ago some posts were defaced by hackers and the security loopholes were just too great. Protecting members content and private information is a top priority so this change was made.

You can find some information here about signatures. Images that had been hotlinked from photo sharing sites will need to be replaced. But you can upload a new image

When I click on new post I noticed the new posts in the Community, Admin, News and & Special Events section do not show up in the list. Is there a reason for this or this just a setting that has to be changed.
Also notice this Add to Reputation button. What is that all about and why have it? I am hoping this is not what I am thinking it is.

The link for new posts returns a list of threads and posts that you have not viewed since your last log in.
For a complete list of threads (viewed or not) since your last visit, please click on the quick links dropdown menu on the upper navbar and then select 'todays posts'

The reputation button is a way of showing another member you appreciate their post. By clicking on it you can send them a thanks or small comment. The intent is to promote more member interaction and to encourage members to post great content.

I no longer use the "new posts" in the header because they weren't being marked as read until I logged out.
I now use the box on the right marked » Recent Sunline Discussions. Unread posts are bolded until read.
I have left the site without reading all new posts and when I came back, they where still bolded. New posts that are posted while you are reading something else will also be added in bold.
Just click a bolded thread, then at the top left of the thread, just below click View First Unread. After reading, scroll to bottom of page and click "top" at the far right. The » Recent Sunline Discussions box comes back into view and you can click another bolded thread.
It seems to have a limit of the last 17 threads that have new posts.
Finding new posts this way seems to work if you check in daily, but if it's been a while, all unread posts probably won't fit in the list.

Unable to Edit on of my posts to correct some wording. I am logged in and the Edit button does not appear to allow me to edit the post. What ams I missing or has this feature now been turned off and if so why? Does it have something to do with the fact someone has posted in the thread after my post?

Does not matter if someone has already replied to your post, you are supposed to still be able to edit it, I do it all the time. Might just be a slight puter glitch, wait a little bit and try to edit it again.

Ok. Thank for reply, however what I find strange is that all of my other posts today I can see the edit button on but not my very first post in the oxygenics shower head thread. The only difference I can see is that the post was quoted by a subsequent poster. All I wanted to do was fix one or two words to correct the way it read as otherwise it can be read with two different meanings.

We mods have unlimited edit time, however regular members only have the ability to edit for I think up to like 30 minutes after the post was originally posted. A pain, I know, but these are the way the new settings are set, and regardless of all the persuasion I've done, they won't set unlimited (or even six month) edits. I think the edit feature is especially helpful for when things change, like M&G meal plans or events, or even for the For Sale ads where people might need to edit to change the price, add pictures, or eventually delete the listing when the coach is sold.
Bill, if you'd like me to edit that post, I'd be glad to. Just send me the block of edited text and I'll put it in there for you.
Jon

OK this is still not working and I just found time to try again. I have added Sunlineclub to my allow cookie list in IE. My settings are on medium security. I do have Mcafee however I cannot find anything that says allow cookies on forums.
My other forum software remembers me. RV.net but here does not.
When I log out it give me this message that all cookies have been cleared. It there a setting within SOC that I need to set? This all worked on the old software but have not yet been able to work on the new version.

Where do I look next?

I'd convert to Firefox then...it's a free download and remembers more than IE. I haven't done anything with the forum software, and all I have to do is type the letter "s" into the username field, click on my username when it drops down, and then just hit enter or click login.
In many cases, it will remember my login info after I keep visiting those sites. It might have remembered it here for me but I logged in with my mom's name just after the conversion to go change settings for her. It seems it won't keep the info until only one name has been used for a long time, but it will eventually. At least the process to login in the mean time is much easier.
