"Congratulations, award" spam

Why am I constantly getting redirected to "award" spam when viewing posts on this site? This is a recent development. I am using the web version while on my phone.

Hmm, not sure. Janet may know more about it. I've had redirects like that too on my phone, but I haven't yet on SOC. I don't go on it much on my phone, only when I have to. The other redirects seem random, and it happens with legit sites too.

This is delivered via ads targeted at iphone users (safari) and is essentially a cookie set as you surf by the advertiser so they can show you more garbage. These ads are served up by google, and others and we have no real control or ability to block them.

Doing a reboot (which purges cookies) offers some short term relief but is not a real solution.

This only happens when viewing certain posts, most recently the ones by thomascine, while on my android phone. No problems on the pc viewing the same posts.
