I'm guessing if a traditional new year's meal...
I'm guessing if a traditional new year's meal from any region that was the original colonies has any "greens" in it, they will be cabbage, collards or kale, maybe spinach. What else would've survived...

Dixie New Year's must haves
Just finished smoking and slicing my Smithfield country ham for our New Year's camping trip. Add to this black-eyed peas, stewed tomatoes, collards and spoon bread. If'n you don't eat black-eyed peas...
