I thought it was rubber also, but found out...

I thought it was rubber also, but found out differently. Mine was actually plastic and hard plastic, at that. Had it been rubber, I could have done things a bit different.

There's not much chance of removing the old pipe cement, unless you want to try a Dremel tool...

To seal the fitting back up, you will need ABS pipe cement. PVC pipe cement will not work properly,...
