My TT had the original factory hand crank jack. Measuring with a tape it looks to be 2-1/4". My guess as to why the new jack didn't fit was maybe the tube was a little thicker. I didn't have to...

Dan, I put a BullDog jack on my 1994 last year....

Dan,
I put a BullDog jack on my 1994 last year. The jack fit perfectly through the top hole but would not go through the bottom one. I had to use a reamer to make the bottom hole slightly larger....
