Yeah after 40 years who is to say obvisually all axles were not the same even though they are rated the same. Welded plates cost savings over the bolt ons how many different axles fit certain...

Many of the smaller campers had welded backing plates so you may be stuck with a rebuild. The parts are out there but can be difficult to find.

The only ones I have been able to find recently...

The only ones I have been able to find recently have been OEM Dexter and they are like $50 each.
