You might could have found the 110V circuit...

You might could have found the 110V circuit breaker to the converter, turn it off, connect the battery and then flip the converter breaker back on. That would leave power to the DVR while killing...

Yep, DVR is probably 110V AC and when shore power is unplugged your on 12V DC and no 110V AC appliances run.
